Ok, so my wife calls and tells me that a package has arrived from JC, and its on the chair when you get home from work. Yeah, right. So I head home immediately and rip this package open like it has air in it and I'm suffocating. I finally peel through all the layers (thanks Josh, LOL) to get to this magnificent knife. So I head back to work, driving with it in my hand, gripping, checking it out. I get home and the usual, snacks, homework, LET'S GO PLAY OUTSIDE GIRLS!!!!! They grab their firesteels, and some CottonBalls, and off we go. So, here we go:
( I ain't Mist, so don't expect too much from the photos, Mist you suck, making us all look bad:(:D:thumbup:)

The wood that will soon be smaller and a fig 4

The age old skill of making big wood, small wood.

While Dad works on his trap skills, Shyann (big) and Sierra (little) work on their firecraft

Cross grain was easy, not too deep, this is a fig 4

I can't carve and snap pics (Mist you suck) so here is the completed fig 4, triggers not long enough, but its the cuts and locks I am practicing

The girls were needing some material to burn, so I collected some shavings and smaller pieces, oh, what the hell, I'll make'em some fuzzys. Don't be to hard on my fuzzys, I still have alot of pain in my wrist from the hand break. I haven't let it heal up, the doc says. What does he know?

Fuzzys going to work. I didn't want a hardwood fire going real well, I still had to go in a cook dinner, so I let them build their frame.

Studying the design, will it hold up?

The Hunter's handiwork, and sheer KNIFE PORN, BABY!!!!

What can I say, I'm in love. This knife handles like a dream. Suberb balance, great ergos, good steel. I didn't sharpen this guy up yet, I was too excited to get out and cut something. I usually don't do this, as I sharpen all my knives, even if they are already sharp to begin with, its this thing I do.

Later will be some tip work, boring and such. The wood I was working with was seasoned Red Oak, I got a damn ton of it for my gathering, so I kept some choice pieces to work with. If you don't know about Red Oad, its like dense, hard, ropes wound together to make a log. This has been down for 2 years, cut, split and shed stored. I burn it in my stove when I run out of hickory.

Thank you Andy, you make some really good knives. Keep doing it, someday, I'll make a post and say, "Yeah, I got the first Hunter he made", then someone will call me a liar and then the thread will get locked because of language.

Thank you Mist, without your posts, pics and reviews, I never would have found Fiddleback and my Hunter. You still suck, but in a good way.

Most of all, thank you Josh. This is a gem that I know you hated to give up. Thanks for waiting a day for me to get the cash, and the timely shipping.

Thanks to all, more to come. Gotta get dinner ready and packed up, I'm goin' for 4 days of dirt time, AND THE HUNTERS GOIN' TOO!!!!!!

:DMoose:D

Well...I think that is the most number of times I've ever been told I suck by one person in one thread :D

But that Hunter is really friggen sweet!!!

I knew you'd love it, glad i could help there...even if I do suck :p

In a good way, lol. I just wished I could take pics like others I've seen. It took me as long to make the stuff, as it did for me to take the pics, check'em, delete'em, retake'em, etc.

I went through so much trouble to take good pics, 'cause I know you'd be lookin' Mist. If I posted the pics I took on the fly, people'd be askin' me, "Is that a Becker? Naw, that's an ESEE. No, look, I think it a Cold Steel folder. LOL.:D

You got talent, brother, just makes us REALLY SUCKY pic takers jealouse is all.

Thanks man, I've just had several years of practice at using a camera to get my point across...whatever that point may be. I am always glad to see other people's pictures though, I think you did well

Great review awesome hunter and a nice family there. I want... no need a hunter like that. Problem is Andy makes too many models that i like.
Congrats you lucky dog...i mean Moose. :D:thumbup:

Great pictures! I'm glad it arrived safe and sound. Furthermore, I'm glad that you are so pleased with your purchase.

:thumbup:Man, that was the first Hunter. I made that before going full time. I'm really glad she's taking on some use!

Two daughters. Me too. Fun stuff.

Man, you guys really need to step it up! 5 daughters here, and the oldest is 7! I win! :)

I have two...one 5 and one 17. Just you wait till you have multiple teenage daughters and then you can really shout I win

Thanks again guys for the wonderful comments. I just got in from the Gathering this weekend, and I have around 180 pics to sort out. The Hunter rode my hip most of the time. I put on my BK2 when Ethan was around and when we were at his place, LOL. Ethan was really impressed with it. It outperformed my highest expectations, in all aspects. The edge was tight all weekend, I did some light batoning, alot of whittling (my favorite campfire past time). Made some spiral cuts on a "in line stick", stripped bark, and the list goes on. I won't lie, I broke out my BK2 for some hardcore batoning, as tough as the Hunter is, I don't want to risk damaging it for recreation. I used it in a fire building demo to show how you make REAL fine cedar shavings light like a cotton ball. It was shaving them so thin, you could see through them. I didn't get alot of pics of the Hunter in action, as my hands were usually full of steel and wood, but it was there and gettin' some.

Once again, I don't think I could have made a better choice in my first custom knife, and Andy, you are a craftsman, for sure. I'll be comin' to see you in the future, cya then. Moose

I have 2 teenage daughters - 15 and 17. They are numbers 4 and 5 after 3 sons. I am getting very good at giving teenage boys the evil eye.

It was great that you and Sarah came out for the Gathering. You guys cleaned house, :D. Let me know how Sarah likes that BK14, will ya? and you the BK2.

Yeah...that skill comes quick lol.

I don't want to even think about it yet. I gots 5-6 more yrs before I gotta start scarin' boys off the porch. Maybe not, these little Thundercats now adays, well, you never know. Oh well, I gots knives and guns and cast a big shadow, so, little peckers better behave, ;).

It is a worrisome thing...but it does have it's moments.

I rather enjoy making the little fellers nervous :D

No looking forward to my two daughters growing into boy attracting teenagers.

THe other day my 3 year old kissed a picture of Justin Beaber. I had to go throw up.
