I ordered/received Newts new folder 145R last week and want to post this. Ordering and shipping; flawless. It fits your hand like he made it just for me. The fit and finish are superb. Blade design and heat treat are all Newt. He has a unique :thumbup:insight one how to blend a blade steel and handle to get a really user friendly knife and at an affordable price. I've always been and will be a fan of Newt.

he does do good work.

you were lucky to get your knife though imho, as good a 'smith as he is he isnt much of a businessman.

Sent him a m.o. today, so the wait begins, and we'll see what happens. Hopefully it will go well, the looks of the knife anyways looks like it will be a winner. keepem sharp

Just received mine Tuesday, and Pumpkin 40 nailed it. Waited years for Newt to produce a folder, and he did it right. Smoooooooth opening, razor sharp, ergonomically superb, no wobble. And all for around $50. Get 'em before they're gone.

I should have mine shortly. Funds have been delivered and am anxious to get it. Basic black g10 etc. etc. keepem sharp

Guys, while I entirely rejoice with you that this is a stellar knife, I suggest you rejoice further becuase it's usually moments like these before Newt runs out, takes more orders and a very unfortunate cycle begins anew.

I hope I'm wrong this time.

Well got mine this a.m. and the knife is as stated. Wish it had a clip but that can be remedied by STR! Anyways it is butter smooth, excellant grind lines, razor friggin sharp and way more than worth the 50 bucks I paid. keepem sharp

PS He seems to have his act together on this and that is good. When he is on his game no one grinds a knife better or I think gives better value.

I have a few of Newt's fixed blades which I bought at local shows a few years ago. I was disappointed to hear of the past troubles and hope he has gotten his business on the right track.

The "new" web site looks and functions a lot better than his old site. I am going to order a couple items and see how it goes. Way back, maybe 18-20 years ago I bought quite a bit of his stuff and had no problems. I sold a couple of his knives on evil-bay in 2007 and mentioned in the description that I thought he passed away. I had read it on some forum. I was e-mail blasted with threats by someone claiming to be his daughter. At the time, there was no active web site for him and I could not find info on the web to verify he was still in business. The gal really went bats***.

Does that mean he made good on all the past screwings? If so, good.

Unfortunately, no. Back in August, 2001, I ordered a Sandbar Bowie and prepaid for it. I've emailed, telephoned, and posted to his old forum site for quite some time. I've talked to his daughter Joda. She's a real nice lady. Newt is a very nice guy to talk to as well. I still have the emails, etc. But the fact remains the same. I never got my prepaid knife.

Well I must be the unlucky one in this thread. I sent a M.O. 2 days after longbow and I have received nothing. I emailed which was responded too but have heard nothing since. Live and learn I guess.

I had reservations about placing an order. But sent the MO 10-9 and received the knife 10-21. As said it's well designed folder with good fit and finish and the price is hard to beat.
