next contest prize teaser ---> AXD <---

I guess I should let it be known that I've always left a lot of the rules open to interpretation on purpose. I'm just sly like that. In my mind, I'm basically saying if you're creative enough to think outside the box and still follow the rules, you're fine. The rest is up to you to figure out.

Understood. Push the limits, stay within the rule set, be creative. Next contest will be as fun, if not more so, than the M390 photo contest.

For the contest format, how about "take a picture of your MokuTi handle, San Mai Damascus blade DDR customs (2 knife minimum)"? :D

Holy moley, that's one heck of a contest prize! The AXD is a serious bad boy!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what this contest is all about - the M390 Gunhammer contest had some great entries.

Sir, you are fashionably late to the party. I was wondering when you'd chime in.

Heh, yeah. I was recovering from the stroke I suffered when I saw the title of the post.

I'm so freaking torn on this AXD contest. It's never easy when desire and pragmatism go head-to-head with each other, you know?

Speaking of contests, I'm still trying to find time to work on those t-shirt designs. Every week it's like another metric butt-ton of programming projects - I can't remember what sunlight feels like.

When I have a good stretch of free time, I'm gonna bring those DDR and HTM t-shirts to life!

As the sun sets on the M390 contest, I patently await a shot at this very sweet AXD.

This is why I think he should NOT collaborate with ZT. Cause he already has down the things that they do well. And ZT is all about overbuilt. I don't really like the thought of an overbuilt DDR. DDR pieces are elegant works of art, not tanks. Even the big blades are still slender and gorgeous, and those aren't words I'd ever use to describe a ZT creation. The reason I think he should collaborate with Benchmade is that most of his works are framelocks or linerlocks. I'd like to see a different type of lock, and the AXIS is the most popular outside of the two that Darrel already does very well, and the TRIAD, and I think Darrel should avoid Cold Steel like the plague. A ZT collaboration, to my mind, wouldn't yield anything new, but a Benchmade one would. I guess I just don't really understand where you're coming from with the ZT bit. Then again, ZT knives have time and time again failed to catch my eye, so it's really largely personal aesthetics.

You're all orange now, crimson!

The idea of any kind of factory collab is, I think, a new one to Darrel, but I will run that idea by him some time, either right now or in person at Bladeshow '12.

EDIT: I meant major factory collab. I'm aware of Fox and some of the smaller companies, but they just basically take a similar blade shape and sometimes handle design from Darrel, but are vastly different IMO.

I think id cut off one of my appendages to win the contest for this knife. WOW. Trade my gf into slavery for it perhaps. Maybe a Jason Statham look alike contest.
