Jason and I had decided to do a Hawk as the next project but before we do we are going to do a quick Fighter project

Why ? Because after the Khukuri project which by the way we are done ...... Thank god and all should be out in the mail except Robs :) sorry Rob he's just re handling that one per Robs request.

Well the Khukuri project was a devastating one when it came to getting them all done and turned out to be quite the task

Moving forward we need and want to get the delivery time of these projects done in a more timely manor

The Hawks need Jason to be set up to do something that he is not quite ready to do so we thought we would have some fun and do a quick fighter project to keep the ball rolling

Fighters from Jason are always in high demand and we thought we would try something fun here by letting you folks join in on the final say of the chosen design

These will all have an 8 3/4 inch blade - textured flats - full tapered tang and Micarta or G 10 handles

Blade steel will be of one of my favorites L 6

We have done up three variants for you guys to choose from and I will start a poll

Once a design has been chosen the Proto type will be made and sent to me for testing and a review and proper introduction

During that period Jason will complete the 10 knives and when I introduce this blade the ten will be ready for delivery

There will be no handle material options and the knives will not come with a sheath, the lucky few that get these can choose types of sheath from there own chosen maker and we will ship to them or to the new owner

Mine will be going to Paul of course

We chose a fighter this size because Jason and I both believe that this size blade brings power to the piece and it is not overly cumbersome

I personally like # 3

I like the belly in the blade for slashing and I think the shorter clip adds weight to the front of the blade by carrying more mass hence adding power

But this time it doesn't matter what I think :) it's up to you guys

So with out further a do please for your entertainment purposes and for the lucky few that will receive these start voting

Thank you :)

Always cool to see these Jason/Joe projects pop up here! I am liking #1. Awesome that you both are approaching this project with a choice.

Awesome folks

Feel free to elaborate on what made you make your choice

We are all here to see wicked steel and learn

I like #1 for it's aesthetics but agree with Joe about #3 for the forward weight on a Fighter to 'lead with the point of the blade'.

Great project and thanks to you and Jason for doing another.

I voted 1.

I like to see the 'apex' (for lack of better words) of the clip closer to the handle as in knife #1, as that adds harmony to the lines of a harpoon-style blade IMO.

Further more, I just like a long clip.

Thanks, Joe !
I like them all and hope I can get in on this project.
OOPS, just saw it was micarta or G10.

#1 is #1

i like a longer cutting edge per blade length
with regards to top and bottom.
a long sharpened clip in a fight just seem right

Thanks, Joe !
I like them all and hope I can get in on this project.
Is the single handle material black micarta ?

Doug

We have not decided on color yet

I should of done another poll :)

We are kicking around white G 10 - Black G 10 pins and a carbon lanyard hole

Maybe a black liner also

We shall see :)

Number 3 for the exact same reasons you gave. The edge is angled down enough to reduce hand fatigue with the added weight at the tip. It will get more work done than the other two.

I didn't read any comments, only looked at the poll page and the examples before voting for #1 - which looks likely to be the winner.

Hello Joe!

English not being my first language, I hope I can get accross why I am leaning towards No.1. First I'd like to state that I'd be happy to own either of those. :) My choice is based on the following thoughts though:

No.2 looks like I would expect a fighter to look like - a classic look is never a bad thing, but it does not really ring my bell here because I feel the other two have even more flair to them.

I like the idea of the belly in No.3 (I have always been a Kukri-lover for that matter), but the overall appearance with the distinct "bent" look (= "leaning forward") created by the belly, the slightly stronger curved handle and the comparatively lower tip - to my eyes - gives it a "slim-waisted" look that somehow throws of the flow for me (purely personal preference here).
This is why I am leaning towards the - to me - sleek and elegant No.1, which looks like more of a sticker than a slasher. I wonder, if bringing up the spine section and tip in No.3 would change things for me.

Hope this made any sense.

Best regards,
Alex

PS: still sad I was not around for the Kukri project... :(

#1 has my vote all the way. I have a serious weak spot for recurve blades and Jason does the long, sweeping clip like nobody else. If he didn't pioneer that particular style of clip, he definitely led the charge to make them as popular as they are today. Everything about the design of #1 just screams "Knight" to me

I voted for number 1 because if I do the sheath it will give me a chance to make the sheath recurve to match up with the blade shape and that always makes a sheath special in my opinion. As to slashing or poking....well I don't know git up from sic 'em about that, but I have a fair appreciation for a good looking sheath.
