I got my first spyderco (the SPOT neck knife) a month or so ago, I was wondering if I should get the Delica 4 of the Endura 4 next. What would you all recommend?

Get the Manix!!!   That's what I'm gettin' next, anyway. The Delica is what be in my pockit right now. It's handy.

The MANIX is a fair bit out of my price range, how does the the native III or centofonate3 compare?

What is your price range? I would reccomend a Delica 4 Wave only cuz' I have a delica and from experience its a great little knife for the money....

You can't go wrong with a Delica. Even though I own and love the amazing Caly3, the Delica still gets pocket time. It's at an excellent price point too -- if you ever need to replace it, it won't kill you to buy another.

$50-$70 cdn, of which the native, endura 4, delica 4 and centofonate3 fall within.

hi im new to this forum, and a somewhat new spyderco fan. i only have a few spydercos so far. i have a ss police, 2 enduras(1 fully serrated, 1 combo edge), a centofante 3, and a byrd raven.

i just wanted to chime in to say that the centofante 3 is my fav of all of them. i think its a really underrated knife. you dont seem to hear much about it on this forum, but im new so mabye you guys have went over it to death already. its such a slick knife. its so sharp, and so light. i just cant express how much i love this knife. i want to go buy another one in case i lose or mess up my current one. the pics on the internet dont do it justice, you have to handle one for yourself.

All these knives are fine blades, but they are different. May be you can find local store, so you will be able to handle them, than it will be easier for you to make a decision. I own Native, SS and FRN Delicas; I used to have Endura and Centofante3. I prefer Native, than FRN Delica. I do not like SS handles because grip is not that great and if hand get wet, knife can slip out. I had this trouble once, when I had to cut some branches on the bush and did not realize, that leaves are wet. I sold Endura because it is too big for me and I do not have Centofante3 any more because I did not like handle to blade ratio than.
Another option is to save more cash and get G10 knife. Caly3 is my favorite; Mini Manix is a great knife also. All depends on what do you need.

if you like the Delica and Endura, and your budget is limited to the more affordable models, then i can sugges none other than the FRN Endura4

I can see the Wave feature if, and only if, you plan on using the knife for self defense. Otherwise, I am puzzled at the perceived need for it.

I'd say SD might be the biggest reason someone may want a wave, but there are others:
Novelty
Constant opening and closing
Personal preference
Impressing other mall ninjas

My reasons are all except the last:) .

FullerH,

I'm not sure if you're aware, but I understand that Spyderco is coming out with a waved Rescue.

Between those two, I'd recommend the delica.

Don't forget the Natives, para and yojimbo though. Also, the Centofantes.

I think starting out with a Delica 4 (wave or not) is a good idea. It's a great all around size for carry. The Endura may be a bit big for your needs. I have a D4 Wave and a D4 Foliage Green comb edge and both are great. You can get some good deals on them. Search around. Most of the D4's in VG-10 steel are around the $40US mark. Those with the new ZDP-189 steel are around $75US. Probably not worth it when starting out. Good luck.

I'd throw in a vote for the VG-10 Delica 4.
It comes with a very sharp edge, and while I did manage to dull it a bit cutting up a large mound of very tough cardboard boxes a while back, it was incredibly easy to get a very sharp edge back on it.
The ergonomics are great, and the well placed and sized spyder hole makes it as easy to open and close one handed as anything. Easy and quick enough that I've lost all my urges to flip a knife open after carrying this one around for a while.

If you can't get the Manix (1st choice), get the E4! Wait a little while, then buy a second one in ZDP. I have a William Henry in ZDP and can't wait for the new Endura!
