Nightmare on Newt street

Those who say HC is "whineing" etc need to read the original post, you sound like you are criticising HC for constantly nagging Newt every hour. No, he tried to get ONE very simple answer FOUR times over ONE MONTH (actually longer), after each time he waited a reasonable period of time for his package to arrive. Newt may be a good guy to others but to HC he was- he still is- evasive and showed poor character.
When you post such blindly cheerleading defenses of some one just because you like their knives, sheathes, etc. you undermine your own credibility, too. I am waiting to read a complaint from one of you about how "I paid so and so for his X knife in the For Sale forum , four times over the past month he says its on its way but won't give me the tracking number when I ask- still no knife." After all that, if he give you your money back, don't "whine" if we tell you to shut up, don't be such a pu$$y, that seller is still a good guy, let bygones be bygones, etc.

Does anybody know if HC received his sheath yet?

Well Dan.., :( ..., it doesn't appear that answer is forthcoming....lol..., and it is actually the only piece of information interesting to me...

The surface appearance is that Newt goofed-up majorly during a location change (understandable).., failed to give appropriate information to valid concerns (ie., tracking information) <~~ not so understandable.., then threw a tantrum because of being publicly called on it..., refunded the money without admitting any neglegence.., and will now say nothing.

Am I missing the point?

We've all lifted our leg and pissed on a couple of trees at somepoint.., but just send the man his sheath Newt...??? If he paid you..., made appropriate informational requests.., and received no usuable information, then his displeasure is warranted in my opinion.

No one has questioned your product..., and the guy wants the sheath. Unless the information on this transaction has been distorted or is totally untrue..., I'd say you owe him (1) email..., (1) sheath.., and (1) apology.

Seems like this could be wrapped up in a heartbeat....

Oh where, oh where are the sheaths now , did someone leave them home all alone , are were they just not sent and HC is getting the bone . If two were sent where are they !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW: just add the melody to my little diddy

I'll also say this is another situation between two folks that I just don't get .

interesting views on customer service to say the least from any makers standpoint???

I've had mixed experiences with Newt Livesay. I ordered a Woo from him and received it promptly as promised via USPS Priority Mail. I then requested an IWB clip for the sheath...and requested...and requested.

After being told time and again that the clip was on it's way, I just sort of gave up on expecting it to come. It never did.

I believe that Newt has described the basic reason for the original problem in a post at the top of GBU. This obviously came long after the original posting of this thread and all listed here were unaware of the specific issues described by Newt. Now this all considered from hindsight, the only question that I (and most likely others in that this all started over one year ago) have is did either of the sheaths ever arrive to the buyer?

I have had a similiar experience with Livesay. Ordered and paid for an item, but no delivery. Inquiries went unanswered. That is the real problem. At the end Newt gave me a refund, but all the dead end, calls, faxes and emails just are frustrating.

Alright, I'm going to chime in here, although this is probably what I will get: :footinmou
What's the big freaking deal? okay, you're a little upset.
AREN'T THERE LOTS OF OTHER REALLY GOOD SHEATH MAKERS OUT THERE?
Dude, just find someone else, if you need help finding a sheath maker post a request. Asking someone who has a pretty huge backorder, and who has had lots of people complain about his tardiness, for a sheath is kind of nuts anyway.

My situation was a little more complex. I ordered 3 knives 1 was on sale.

1095 RCM sale price $125
D2 Air Assault regular price $200
D2 Adventure Knife price $265

Newt shipped my RCM a month after he said he would because he misplaced it in the move. Here's where it gets screwy.

I recieved the RCM but was charged $283.
The invoice showed a 1095 Air Assault and 1095 Adventure Knife on backorder.

So there are 3 screw ups here. The RCM doesn't cost $283, my 2 backordered knives are supposed to be in D2.

I just wanted the paperwork and charges to reflect the cost of the one knife I had recieved and corrections on the backordered items.

I knew that Newt was in a bind and I wasn't going to ride him to get my knives quickly. In fact, I told him that I would wait for them as long as it takes. I just wanted the the $283 reduced to $125 to reflect the one knife that I recieved.

I sent Newt an email once a week for the next couple of weeks. For whatever reasons, Newt was not able to comply or communicate directly to the 3 very specific requests. He prolonged the situation for about 53 days. I finally cancelled everything to avoid an even bigger mess in the future due to the incorrect backorder invoice.

Then he pulled his famous "no soup for you" routine.

In the same 2 months, Newt had banned 6 other customers for their "requests".

The really disturbing thing is that Newt locks in the higher price for D2 if he revised my backorder invoice. It would have been good for him, and I would be able to refer to official Newt paperwork if I recieved items other than the ones that I ordered. The changes that I requested would have put more money in Newts pocket. Instead, he chose to ban me. Go figure. I couldn't figure it out either.

IMO, if he can't straighten out paperwork, keep his information straight, deal with the small problems before they become big ones, then he will never get his head above water.

Aside from the group of guys that knows Newt personally or have dealt with him extensively:

NEWT did get his site up and running again :-) I must state that while my order has been "problem plagued", Newt DID NOT take funds from me in advance.
