I have had a similiar experience with Livesay. Ordered and paid for an item, but no delivery. Inquiries went unanswered. That is the real problem. At the end Newt gave me a refund, but all the dead end, calls, faxes and emails just are frustrating.
My situation was a little more complex. I ordered 3 knives 1 was on sale.
1095 RCM sale price $125
D2 Air Assault regular price $200
D2 Adventure Knife price $265
Newt shipped my RCM a month after he said he would because he misplaced it in the move. Here's where it gets screwy.
I recieved the RCM but was charged $283.
The invoice showed a 1095 Air Assault and 1095 Adventure Knife on backorder.
So there are 3 screw ups here. The RCM doesn't cost $283, my 2 backordered knives are supposed to be in D2.
I just wanted the paperwork and charges to reflect the cost of the one knife I had recieved and corrections on the backordered items.
I knew that Newt was in a bind and I wasn't going to ride him to get my knives quickly. In fact, I told him that I would wait for them as long as it takes. I just wanted the the $283 reduced to $125 to reflect the one knife that I recieved.
I sent Newt an email once a week for the next couple of weeks. For whatever reasons, Newt was not able to comply or communicate directly to the 3 very specific requests. He prolonged the situation for about 53 days. I finally cancelled everything to avoid an even bigger mess in the future due to the incorrect backorder invoice.
Then he pulled his famous "no soup for you" routine.
In the same 2 months, Newt had banned 6 other customers for their "requests".
The really disturbing thing is that Newt locks in the higher price for D2 if he revised my backorder invoice. It would have been good for him, and I would be able to refer to official Newt paperwork if I recieved items other than the ones that I ordered. The changes that I requested would have put more money in Newts pocket. Instead, he chose to ban me. Go figure. I couldn't figure it out either.
IMO, if he can't straighten out paperwork, keep his information straight, deal with the small problems before they become big ones, then he will never get his head above water.
Aside from the group of guys that knows Newt personally or have dealt with him extensively:
"Deep down inside, you know you are in trouble when you order a knife from Newt" TM
