I ended up just doing a quick one tonight, it was acutally -4* celcius and to be honest Im hurting alot from a paintball game over the weekand. So, to get on with the test.

First off I did the norm of sawing some wood with the ol' leatherman and then split those pieces with the Nimravus. I worked really well, I like having a
knife to do this because its very quick, safe and Im not swinging a hatchet around.

Then some pieces ready to made into a few shavings.

This knife is absolutly amazing for making shavings. I just love the thing. I mean shaving them off reminded me of using a mora, it worked so well, and the bonus its a hell of alot nicer looking. Plus the sheath is very well made, and non the less the thing was shaving to start with and it didn't flinch, not any chips or anything, just stayed shaving.(If you haven't notice this is now my favorite blade:D)

Here are some shavings it can do.

Now, I wasn't sure as to how well it would strike a ferro rod. I was pleasntly surprised to see that it worked ok, was no 119, or 192 but it worked well and

caught the lint.

I'm so happy with this knife. Turned out to be the best buy aside from my BK7. Im still messing around with the tuns a sheath positions you can do with it. There are parts on the sheath that I dont even know what they are there for.:D

But either way, Ill keep playing the modes of carry, and I was happy I didnt have to sharpen it after tonight, but lets be honest who here can stand not touch the edge on a new knife.
The only problem I Have with this knife is in the temps tonight -4* celsius (24 for you americans) It was extremly cold on the hands, directly from deploying
the knife, my hand would almost pain it was so cold. This is kinda big for me as I do alot of winter sports, snowshoeing, camping in the winter ect. But, I may end up putting my own handle slabs on, rig something up for it. Rosewood, mabye some burl who knows but that would definetly be an upgrade.

Looking for a new fixed?
$120 american or around $150 cdn?
In plain edge this is a serious contender, not a tool to be beat on, but its sertainly a solid knife.

Glad you like it Fonly. My Nimravus is one of my favorite blades too. I'm big into Bark River these days, but the Nimravus always seems to go along regardless what I'm carrying on my belt.

Thanks for taking the time to provide the review. Its on the "need to buy" list but then again, that list grows by the day.

I had always looked the other way thinking this was too tactical in design but after your review I'm thinking otherwise. Thanks!

Is that the full sized one. I looks small in your hands. I remember the one I owned for a short time a while back as pretty large. But I guess I have a bit smaller hands.

I'd like to see how it handles abuse. Splitting wood for example. Jab it into the top of a log, turn upside down and hammer the hell out of it. I really like this knife, but I'd have to know it stands up to that type of abuse before I'd replace the kabar.

Think of this knife as a mora with 154CM, its very thin. I'll be leaving all the heavy stuff for the wetterlings or BK7, but yeah like a mora, just a litte nicer looking and very robust handles.

Thanks for the review Fonly.

Special kudos for those last shots with the knife in hand. That really puts the blade into perspective. Looks like a really great size blade for many chores and comfortable fit in the hand.

So what are your thoughts in comparing batoning this blade with the 119 and Kabar? More specifically, did the thin blade tend to chew up the baton like the 119's swedge? Or was the thinness an asset to the knife's penetration?

Damn, 24 degrees, we are still hitting the mid to upper 80s. Paintballer uh, me and my son play quite a bit and have a pretty good scenario team. We are playing a big game this saturday against some Air Force cadets, if my Army team doesn't come out on top I think I will be in for quite a bit of ribbing.:D

I think the nimravus is a great knife, I sometimes regret selling mine but I just couldn't deal with the serations. I agree it is a finesse knife not something to pound with. Chris

More to the thinness. It didnt chew a baton, just was to thin for it. Im not a big batoner anyways, but its fun to mess around once in a while. But yeah, Like I was saying more or less think of a Mora, and compare that to a Ka-bar or 119. the 119 is actually thicker than a Ka-bar, but its deeply hollow ground blade makes a much better slicer.

And RB as to the paintball yeah, I love that stuff. I have a Viewloader that I muchly prefer over a 98 custom. Mabye some day Ill have one of those MR2's but right now my viewloader does a great job.:D

I see. So basically, instead of replacing my Kabar with this, I'd keep the kabar and replace the BM710. But then I'm carrying 2 fixed blades. hmmm I dunno. I need to hold one.

Try this, replace your Ka-Bar with a Machete, then carry the Nimravus and the 710. There you go. :)

Thanks for the review and pics Fonly

If you get a chance try the jimping on the blade with your ferro rod it may throw more spark for you.

I had a Nimravus in M2 in my hands at one time after reading this I wish I would of taken it home :(

Thanks again.
