yeah, i need 3 motors and one vfd to rule them all. maybe santa will pay me a visit

I would say that's time well spent. That looks like one hell of a setup man. If only I had the skills and machinery to accomplish that.

Careful when you flip the on switch. It might become sentient and take over the world!

Santa ain't payin' you nuttin'!!! You went 9 months without eating your lunch! I think that qualifies as naughty....
:D

thanks guys, still a few things to make though. got to order a ready rail system and some magnets to finish the surface grinder attachment. thats my version of the nielsen mag disc on a tiltable pedastal with beaumont style rest. the 20'' grinder has a wood wheel for now(aluminum gets expensive when you need a piece that big). the double slot grinder tilts 90 degrees and has an over center cam for quick belt changes. ive also made a table/rest for horizontal work. i tested everything with an underpowerd d.c. motor with built in rheostat. it would spin fast but it wouldnt really let me grind. still undecided weather or not to paint all this stuff.

it's slightly less than 20 inches right now. going to glue an 18'' bicycle innertube on it this weekend and dress the surface back flat, thats why i built the rest with a mitre slot.

haha, no doubt about that. got the next 16 days off for vacation. time for a steakhouse.
