Nirvana

I've had mine on preorder with KC since late last year. I can't wait to have it in hand!

i had a pre order also at KC,but i've got an e-mail from Nationalknives that they were in stock,i paid and i got the last 2!i'm so pleased!one for display and one EDC.

I will admit that it's not a knife I was interested in right away, this thread has piqued my interest though. I'm curious if the lock stick is only present for the break in period though. I took a look at my Slysz bowie this morning, and it's lock face looks like its carbidized.

Definitely a cool looking knife!

Looking forward to hearing other owners experience with the knife.

The Slysz Bowie (and several other of the Taichung Ti framelocks) are carburized. Carbonized is something I haven't heard of as actually being a thing, carbidized is a layer of tungsten carbides and is done with an electric carbidizer, and carburized is basically heat treating the Ti, such as how CRK does.

Does anyone know if the pocket clip screws are threadlocked or not? I tried to remove mine but they wouldn't budge.

Yup, that milled handle would make milling for an insert difficult unless it had a separate lock bar. I'm picturing an example but can't come up with a model name off the top of my head.
I have troubles buying frame locks without inserts these days after wearing a few out and stick.

LionSteel SR-1, integral titanium frame lock, has had the steel lock bar since its release six years ago.

Mine arrived while away for the 4th. Awesome looking, very smooth with a great blade shape. The contoured area below the pivot offers a good purchase area if you need to choke up on the knife, The egos are pretty darn good, the gimping is ok. The over all ATD is in step with Taichung produced spydies, very nice. Mine has lock stick, nothing heinous but it's there and the edge was pretty dull IMHO.

My lock stick is horrible. To the point of having to put graphite on the tang. Something I haven't done on a Ti framelock in years.

So many incidences of the incessant lock stick on the Nirvana! No can do. Begged a steel lock bar insert at that price point.

The amount of Lock stick is the only sticking point(pun intended), to an otherwise superb knife. I tried cleaning, graphite, sharpie, opening and closing, etc. It's a little better, but still problematic. I tried removing the pivot to remove the blade for thorough cleaning. One pivot loosened easily. The other would not. Instead of being smart, and stopping, I kept trying, which partially stripped the pivot head. I called Spyderco, and the Rep is sending me a replacement. Now I have to figure out how to remove the damaged pivot. Any constructive thoughts would be appreciated.

Other then the lock stick, the knife performs as if it were a custom. Here's a post processed image of my baby.

Has anyone with a Nirvana that has a lock-stick problem contacted Spyderco and got their take on the problem ?
Seems like a very expensive knife to have this issue .
Spyderco must be aware of it , and I'm sure will be working to correct it on any further production , but if I had just purchased one ( for what is in reality a reasonable sum of money ) and my new pride and joy was playing up , I'd be one unhappy camper .
