NMFBM... the ultimate knife !

I have three black paper on satin NMFBM's with full convex grinds to a zero edge, all of which come in at .26" thickness, right between the CG @ .25" and the LE @ .27".

neeener neeener. I can see you're not happy about having to put up with those three. One is serious business. Three can only be cause for problems. I tell you what. Since you're so unhappy about it, I'll take them off your hands. PM me for the address bro. I'll set em up with their own rooms and everything.

Dang Will, that's great to hear Congratulations. ;)

Thanks, Doug. For me, they're the best of the best, the LE being just blade heavy enough to be a tad cumbersome. The CGs feel great to me, but the slight added weight of the .26" thickness takes me right to the max on efficient chopping weight, as a personal preference. Without gloves, I still prefer the hand-smoothed slabs of the CG and LE, but with gloves the added texture of the machined black paper slabs is just right. And the convex grind to a zero edge, on a big chopper, is the ultimate blade grind in my experience.

Having owned three LE's, I know now that I'm at my max weight efficiency with this variation, so it seems unlikely I will find a more perfectly balanced big chopper--hence my quest over the past months to track down these three (ever since I got the first ). I do believe I'm home. :D

Keep trying, Iboschi--you'll get there eventually.

I've don't have your experience Will, with all the different Mistress's. My wife would'nt like it anyway. :D No seriously I'm sure you've handled enough of them to have a good idea what makes a good chopper. I still have'nt used mine but she is awfully pretty, and i can see where your comming from. The middle of the road having owned Bm's on both sides of the BP and satin Mistress's. And i can see what you mean by the handles being alittle slimmer than the Le's or CG's. But I'm happy with mine and i can tell your happy with your THREE! Congrats my friend, :)

Will, you must have been lucky to get three that all mic the same. I have one that is .26" as well as two LE's that come in at .25" and .275. Go figure. I love them all still the same.

I've heard of those kinds of variations, but haven't experienced them--I've had twenty NMFBM's altogether. The 14 CGs all mic'd between .246 and .255, the three LE's all between .270 and .275, and these three BP/satin right @ .26". Apparently all of mine came from the same parts of the run for each variation. My three LE #'s were 20, 33 and 44, so all were pretty early.

Will, you had 14 CG's you must of really liked them. Did you have all the different flavors/colors?

I bought a bunch because the run was so short--only two weeks--I was afraid if I liked one better than the others I wouldn't have a chance to get multiples later on. I also planned to make gifts of several, which I have done to brothers, son, nephews.

Naturally, my plan went out the window when I found "the one", the BP/satin, which was not part of the original offering, and I was forced to go on the hunt for several months to get my "pair and a spare".

Here's a pic showing my original NMFBM order all together.

Finding the ones you can use the best is what it is all about .... then getting some spares makes a lot of sense ....

You won't wear them out or break them .... but if you travel and use them they can go "missing" .... I have lost a few like that .... it lessens the pain if you have another as a back up .... :)

Our RAF cargo handlers can and have lost whole "pallets" of personal belongings ....lol.... how they let them loose with nuclear weapons I don't know ....

Now THAT's a very scary thought.

For my purposes, I think the NMFBM is the perfect "emergency" tool, so I carry one in my vehicle, which means it's always at risk for theft. So, yeah, the possibility of losing one is my primary reason for stocking multiples on "one of a kind" runs I like.

That's awesome and very creative i might add. That's just so nice of you giving BM's for gifts to your relatives Will. Hey my wifes putting me up for adoption what do ya think? :D :D

Hey Rich, that BBDC is :)

I have to agree with Will that the BP satin with full convex is my favorite too.

I need a BP to match the BWMLE one of these days!

You have so many awesome knives:thumbup:

The strange thing about the NMFBM is that it LOOKS like the perfect chopper and big blade. I knew it was perfect before I read a review or any other info on it. I saw a picture and knew. Strange how the eye can pick up minute details that translate into something physics can explain. Then I picked it up and all the info translated into a dangerously deforested backyard. My girlfriend still can't understand why I did what I did out there. I try to explain that I couldn't help it. The beast had taken hold... She knows the LE is coming and is bracing for the damage.

We need something like that again. Don't get me wrong I like my other Busse knives but my NMFBMs are just the cream of the crop. I'm not saying I need more NMFBM's, but I want another knife that just drops my jaw like the NMFBM does. I wouldn't mind more satin/bp's though. ;)

I might ask one day if they will do some black paper hand shaped magnum grips for my NMFBM .... the smoothness of the black paper once taken to a smooth finish on the BWM LE feels amazing in the hand .... and is very comfortable in use. I would'nt mind the same grips on my FSH Variant either .... and on my KZ ..... those and my Basic's would then be all I needed.

I think Jerry is bound to bring out new interesting knives but if all you are looking for is a set of users as I am then at some point you can relax and kick back and just get better using them with practise.

The modified Khukri from Jerry might well be my last Busse .... as much as I like trying them all .... some are very hard to judge on performance as being better than others. Some do stand out .... the NMFBM is one of them .... and the Basic 9 is the other .... others I have are much harder to split. The FSH Variant and the NMSFNO being a good example ....

9 times out of 10 it can simply be down to which has the best edge at the time you do the comparison ....
