NMSFNO designed for?

HelleHog,

I was up in the portages that linked to Knife Lake this past summer. Beautiful...but we hit a week straight of 40-60 degree weather with almost constant rain. Did get to chase away a bear though.

I carry mine on my pack on duty sometimes....other times, it makes for good photos :)

great knife...don't forget the Okoden Sheath and you have an bombproof combo.

To me it seems to be the most refined of the non-custom shop knives released recently. I had to sell mine due to loss of job/ability to work. Although I do not think I 'regret' selling it, I know I will buy one again once finances are better. I will have to buy one used, not for the cost savings as much as the non-pristine condition so I do not feel guilty using it. What a great knife design.

Funny, we were talking to a group from the Chicago area for a bit on the Vera/Ensign portage, I think it was a 168 rods of love, great views at the top.

We had similar weather in mid June, no bears though. I like that area so I try to link into it every other year. Next year we'll be west siders in billy goat country probably going out of Mudro, we'll see.

It's an interesting design. Kind of a sleek version of a Fusion Steel Heart but patterned on a SFNO on steroids. I think it's the right size to still hang on your belt and hike all day, but having no limits or concerns on what you can do with it. Has sufficient length to jam deep into anything that requires that sort of attention and get the desired results esp when you're out in the middle of nowhere.

It's your basic Tarzan knife for the 21st century.

What it was actually designed for is a very special team (Special Forces) who go into a high radiation nuclear area and stop the runaway reactor process (nuclear meltdown) using this special knife. These team members are chosen from repeat offenders who just can't help themselves (natural outlaws). The knives have proven to be surpisingly useful for civilian purposes.

Cute.

For those of you who haven't figured out the secret decoder tricks and are honestly curious:

NM = Nuclear Meltdown, referring to the drastically rounded edges. Google "Clark meltdown" to get an idea how this is applied elsewhere.

SF = Special Forces, referring to the handle style.

NO = Natural Outlaw, referring to one of the early models in the overall Busse lineup. Like the Badger Attack, Steel Heart and Battle Mistress, the name gets recycled occasionally.

I use my knives for whatever I need them for....:)

I think when Jerry designs them he uses his great mind and excellent knife making skills and many years of experience to do what he does....:thumbup:

and one of the many things that I find outstanding about Busse Combat is we listion to what everyone wants:):) and needs:thumbup:

That is why I LOVE MY JOB:thumbup:

I call shennanigans on that one! I distinctly remember asking for a matching ruck, ak, Chuckette, Moab set all for under $500?????????

Still waiting on that one.

This was the first BUSSE I actually got in my hand on directly from Skunk . The MNSFNO sold me totally on BUSSE and I have beat the hell out of it . I would never part with it and when I want to convert a friend to BUSSE all I have to do is say "take this and let me know what you think " hasn't failed yet.

Whatever grandiose names Jerry comes up with for his knives matters not to me. Performance does matter, and with the good convex edge, the NMSFNO is a real performer. It is now my favorite heavy camp knife.

Horn Dog does a nice job on every knife he plays around with. If you think this is impressive (I know I do) you should see what he did with a pretty scary 'self modified' SOD earlier this year. The owner had beaten the Socks out of it.

Horn Dog, you did a outstanding job on that knife.

I love this pic.:cool::thumbup:

Thanks, Helle. I couldn't quite swing a Limited Edition at the time, so I stripped it and convexed it. The NMSFNO is a brute of a compact chopper, and I would recommend one to anybody seeking a knife of this type. It bested every knife I own in its size for chopping.

Busse should be giving you a cut of every NMSFNO they sell - I bet your chopping tests have convinced a LOT of people that they NEED this knife.

I know it was your tests, and sharpening tips, that ended up putting the NMSFNO on my must-have list.

And that same blade was my first in Bama Clay, and we all know how that's gone.... :D
