I have done MANY deals with Spyken. And it always good, esp. the communication.

Let's hear his side of the story . . .

I have always had excellent communication with spyken. No problems at all.

my post is fact. when i returned home this is the only communication received from him.

Mark,
I can't encash MOs in Singapore. If you can get someone to paypal me, that would work.

BTW, Rick has only made 3 droppoints so far.

sorry about you father being in the hospital...

but unless you told him, spyken would not have known about that.

Anyway, how long do you think is reasonable for someone to wait in a situation like this, with no contact from the buyer, before selling to someone else?

you tell me how long ? i waited hours for his reply...and as i said i have done hundreds of deals ....i would have waited atleast until the next day or longer if someone had told me ill take it...as a matter of fact...i have held knives on this forum for days and recently one for a couple weeks and i had buyers for both ...but my word is my word.

thanks to Santi for highlighting this to me.

Mark,

Yours is the first negative comment I've ever received in 7-8 years of being on the forums.

There's a time difference between the US and Singapore, 12-15 hours depending on whether your are East or West Coast. I was sleeping when you posted or PMed. Surely, you know that from my location. You may feel differently, but normally I make sure the seller is available, if I'm going to start watching the clock when I communicate with him. As an illustration, if you need to contact someone in Japan, do you call him during your waking hours or his?

Your PM /email said that you don't do paypal, only MO.

Here's your message via email:

lemme know !!

As you can see in my post, I asked for paypal funds. I replied to your messages first, saying that I can't do MO as there's no way of encashing. I was of course being nice and reasonable by saying that if you can do paypal, it can be done. Please do consider the situation - the FS post mentions paypal funds, in fact...$560 includes paypal fees and shipping.

In the meantime, there was another buyer who could paypal me funds immediately. It went to him as he contacted me at the same time as well. He also contacted me across a few forums. He even sent me paypal funds immediately.

I think I have acted very reasonably and fairly.

I take my integrity very very seriously. I think you should really try and contact me before you post such disparaging remarks. BTW, I must have done close to a hundred happy deals on the forums.

i contacted you by PM's and Email on 2 forums....you were asleep and i went to the hospital....what is the differance?..

you only posted one pm here...there were other's....i dont care about the knife...but i do care about the integrity of sellers.

i see fewpop wants to talk...well speak up...what can you say about me...i have done hundreds of transactions can you say bad about me.

Mark ... well, If I were James, I will do the same. Who has the available $$ immediately, he/she is the one who gets the knife. It's business, nothing personal. I have been dealing with James all the times, no problem at all. You can ask dealers too, they do the same :) Com'on do not sweat over small stuff man :)

Mark, I think I have said all there is to say, thanks.

btw, Fewpop is also a gentleman to the highest degree. Please, no need to bark at him.

You all need to chill out. If someone told me that they couldn't pay me in a way that would get me actual cash, while another told me that he could IMMEDIATELY give me cash, I probably would have done the same thing. You should have told him that you would be going to the hospital and that you would be happy to try and work out the paypal thing (assuming you would have wanted to)

bigmark,

My original post was not meant as a personal negative statement about you, or any kind of statement about you. I made a simple statement of fact, and if you see that as a transgression on your thread, or your character, then that is a shame. I do not agree with the title of your post, however.

As I said previously, I mean you no offense here, and I do not doubt that you have completed many good transactions.

i guess i show more respect than most posting here...cause i dont sell anything out from under a purchaser ...i follow through....i do not have to tell anyone that i am going to leave for a couple hours just as he did not have to say he was in china and asleep.

I know I probably shouldn't post here, but I consider Ford and James to both be friends! I have had nothing but good dealings with James aka Spyken. I have also had good dealings with Ford, aka Fewpop.

You chose to post your complaint in a public arena and then got upset when Fewpop says he has had good deals with Spyken....

I understand that you did not get a knife that you wanted, I am sorry! I am also sorry that your father is in the hospital!!

Bottom line is that you had no transaction that could have gone bad! You couldn't paypal Spyken and that was a contengecy of the deal!!

Spyken WAS the owner and could sell to who ever he wanted to! He was under no contract to sell it to you. From what I saw he never said it was yours, or entered into a "verbal"/written contract with you.. How does this show a lack of integrity?

Correct me if I am wrong...

Tom

no offense taken fewpop...you just got your pal's back and that is admirable and i respect that.

but i have no respect for spyken !!

im done posting here....i wish all the best....just wanted to make a point.

Thanks Tom and others.

Yes, I am in Singapore, not China.

And I'm sorry about your dad being in hospital, Mark, FWIW.

Throwing another hand in the pot, Spyken is a top notch guy in my book. Had great dealings with him and can objectively say that from the posts here it looks like things just didn't work out as planned for one of the people involved. I think we can all agree that Tom Krein's assesment of the lack of a solid agreement is correct and that Spyken did nothing wrong. We are all sorry for your current situation with your father bigmark408. I hope he heals well and quick.

Bigmark, your calling spyken a person w/o integrity for selling to the first person who actually followed the terms of his sale (PP), is like him calling you a person without integrity for offering a money order instead of the proper medium of sale. A ridiculous scenario, right?

I have seen many a knife that I wanted in your listings, BM, but since you do not accept paypal, I move on. Based on your initial post, I expect you would prefer I email you and say "won't you please take paypal", and then, if you SPF to someone else, I should come back here and blast you because I emailed you first. A ridiculous scenario, right?

I have purchased from spyken, his dealings are replete with integrity (not to mention he never seems to make a profit, considering shipping costs and PP fees are typically included).

I am sorry your father is unwell. Sometimes we unfairly strike out at folks due to unrelated stresses/situations, and this appears to be what may have happened here. I wish your father all the best in his recovery, but I also believe owe spyken an apology to illustrate your own integrity.
