The following has gone out in all my Christmas cards this year.
***********************************************

In The Spirit of The Season:

This year I have completely bought into the philosophy of a green economy utilizing local renewable resources. Additionally, I have rejected the culture of commercial consumerism. Instead of giving everyone cheap consumer products produced with slave labor in China, I have committed my entire gift budget for Christmas, Chanukah and Cuanza, to improving the lives of the indigenous peoples of Central America.

In fulfillment of this commitment, a generous donation has been made—in your name—to purchase a giant old-growth Rosewood tree in Honduras. A local company has agreed (pro-bono) to harvest this ancient tree and convert it into charcoal briquettes that will be donated to the local people for cooking during this holiday season.

In their name, I thank you.

Indeed, for those who missed the April 1st opportunity this year, December 8th is the alternative date for second attempts.

I remember that Christmas where we decided to be sustainable by cutting down a mature greenhouse gas scrubber and then burning it inefficiently so that it could be burned again. Good times!
Quoting this again because my reaction to the OP: WTF???

I want to be IBTL. Yes I made it. Also I've donated plenty to the conservation of knife related items and watches. Just doing my part.

Good job!

As to not gifting knives made with slave labor, you can always gift, for $30 or less, such classics as, the Buck 110 LW, Ontario RAT 2, Douk-Douk, K55 Mercator, Opinel no. 8, Higonokami, MAM, Mora, Victorinox, Cold Steel GRIK, Pocket Bushman or Tuff-Lite... all great knives, all made in free countries, all very affordable.
