No love for Northwoods Indian River Jacks?

The knife is so slim and somehow it still fills the hand nicely when open. Mine is from the previous run with the convex edge.

The carved bone on the current run looks fantastic. Me want bad.

Received mine today in smooth bone. Very well executed with fine fit & finish. Top notch materials used as well especially at this price point. Good job Derrick!

One small, teeny tiny comment - this begs to have an EZ Open version. :)

I went with the Amber Stag but almost ordered that one too! Looks great Joe!

 Nice one Brian, I can't wait to get mine!!! I can't wait until the day Derrick changes the name of the site to "Knivesshipfree-and-will-be-teleported-to-your-pocket-immediately.com".

Erik nice choice on the stag cut bone. Can't wait to see the pics. If I had more mad money I would already have teleported to me!:D

Total bummer, finally got mine in the mail and I have to send it back to Derrick. The edge of the bolster is bent down in several places where it looks like the jigging machine hit it. Anyway, the knife looked fabulous otherwise. The stag bone looked really great.

I'm pretty sure those handles are prefabbed somewhere else then queen puts them on their knives. Even if they did make them they wouldn't be jigged after they were attached to the scales.

What you are seeing is more than likely where the handle material sits lower than the edge of the bolster and the buffing machines rounded that part of the bolster over. IMHO is pretty common on jigged bone and stag handles.

We'll take good care of you. Sorry about that.

I am afraid I am not very well versed in how these magical items are put together but the bends match so well with the jigging I assumed they were related. Here are some pics in case anyone is interested. I already spoke to Derrick on the phone and he is taking care of me, he has always had great customer service. Other than the bends the rest of the knife is fantastic and I really like the coloration in the bone. The hard part is going to be waiting for the replacement... :)

That looks like the buffing on the bolster like Vandal was saying. We'll take a look when it gets here and see what we can find for you.

I bought one. Didn't like it and told KSF I wanted to send it back. Over the weekend it grew on me and I've had it in my pocket ever since.

ha ha--now you've done it. It is going to get in your blood and you are going to start telling your friends about it! :)

I'm waiting for some more with wood handles to come in, and then I'm going to join the club!

Third time is kind of the charm, after sending my first two IRJ's back this one is a keeper although it still has a proud spring when open. I don't consider myself to be overly picky although at $130 I get a tad pickier. After this experience I will probably steer clear of any Northwoods Knives made in Gladstone, Mich. (Marble's?). It's a beautiful knife none the less and I look forward to putting it to good use.

Proud Spring

Recently arrived from Derrick as a fine example of the Indian River Jack. Great steel, top notch fit & finish. East to carry. Just the right size. A home run I think.

I needed Ken Coats help me to make it a perfect knife to suit me by adding the EO feature, but it is so well executed that if you didn't know, you'd swear it came from the factory like that. It be perfect now with my non-cooperative hands. :)

Curious if a two-blade version is down the road........

I have been eyeing them for a couple weeks. This thread has pushed me one step closer in getting one. It will probably be my next purchase.
