No love for Resi

I had reservations about res-c before I got my first one, but after I got my Basic 6 LE, I was hooked. It's feels great in the hand and is excellent when weight is a factor for backpacking.

Okay, okay. I stand corrected in terms of color options: Resi-c comes in all colors of the rainbow. But does this make it any better? Not for me (worse even... my wife wants the purple scrapper now. Thank you stjones :().The soul of a knife is in its handle - and this rubber stuff just kills it for me. No soul, no passion.

I'm with you.....all the way...but only when weight doesnt matter. But when I'm jungle stompin...and weight matters...Res C starts looking pretty...funny thing how fatigue and blisters changes ones perspective. But again were talking practical vs...love....I love G10, Burl wood, horn, etc....but need res C sometimes for gear. But who drools and fondles res c with adoration?

I view res c akin to plastics guns....ugly...but undeniably superior in the category of weight and capacity.

I like res-c. Grippy when cold or wet. Quieter when it bangs on your rifle stock etc. I also like wood. I guess we need a faux wood res-c.

I LOVE RES C! Its awesome!!! I know some people don't like em, but once you really use it, you will love it. As far as replacing G10 or Micarta, not gonna happen. But then you're comparing apples to oranges. Res C is amazing in its own right, so very comfortable to use, just one of my FAVES. As far as the Scrap Max 460 goes, it is one of my favorite knives of all time!!! I got a Basic 4 Anorexic and it is awesome! I don't think I would like the basic 4 in any other handle material than Res C. Some knives were just built for it. Res C is the goods man. Don't you have enough G10 and Micrarta? It gets boring after a while.. I wish they offered the scrap max with the Res C in many colors like orange, red, and blue!

Listen to this man

I think G10 looks much nicer. I can't tell ya whether the comfort is a good tradeoff for the looks since i've never used Res-C, but I used my G10 a good bit the other day, and it was very comfortable.

Looks nasty but who the hell cares as long as it gets the job done !:untroubled:

I prefer a personally hand shaped handle, far more comfortable than any pre-determined shape....and oh so pretty

I was just wondering, anyone looked at similarly sized knives in res-c and micarta and figured the actual weight savings?

Got to love redwood burl.

You said it doesn't age well? are there pictures of this? that could make the difference if it ages poorly.

Come on now, the soul is in the steel my man. Handles can be changed out and replaced, the soul is the blade.

Resiprene can be made in any color they want to make it in...even a 'clear' type of color (no pigment). I like it for the most part.

I have had 2 of the Basics for 12 years and the handles look and feel fine. I have other kin with green and tan as well as black Resi-C handles, and like them all.

A/S you can send that ResC to me if you want to get it out of sight. Nothing better than satin and resC for me

Resiprine C is the bee's knees, the cat's meow, the pigeon's poop!

Love that stuff. Black, Tan, I don't care, it is comfy, absorbs shock, and, although it looks like rubber tires, I love it.

Course, I also, weirdly enough, love rubber tires. I have a thing for nice tires on a truck or car. Just makes the truck look more capable, and better able to handle anything.
