No more Benchmades for me for a while...

I look at Benchmade's as the cheaper, but high quality knives. But then I have friends who buy things like Strider, Al Mar, Chris Reeve, Randall, etc. It's point of view.

I've also never broken a Benchmade the way I have Spydercos. I can't stand the lock on the CRKT, and think that their prices are 25-50% higher than they should be for what you're getting.

You emailed them exactly one time and they didn't respond, now you are boycotting the entire company?

You are trolling, kid, and very poorly at that.

The Rift was on of the knives that I had. I wanted to like it, but the steel preformed like some of CRKT soft ASU8a. When I emailed CS to see if I may have a blade with a bad HT I never heard back. The other BM I picked up was the BoneCollector and it came with the same lack luster factory edge, and though it felt nice in the hand but it didn't not lend it's self to pocket carry very well. The only BM that impressed me was an Ambush that I bought for my son. He worked that little AUS8 blade over and it kept it's edge surprising well. At this point the only BM I would consider would be the Osborne, but that would only be if I didn't think I'd have to use CS.

I really like Benchmades.
Collect & use older Microtechs, Spyderco's & Benchmades.
Mainly Benchmade LE's anymore.
M-390 805 ,710 & M4 806 are my current BM user favorites.
Right now I have these new M-390 & M4 LE's on order
that will be out in the next month or so. (All under $200.00 ea.)
BM806-1101
BM806BK-1101
BM520BK-1101
BM525BK-1101

If you like Benchmades, this is the time to grab some great LE's.
Or regret it later..................

Just my two.........

Can't wait for those 806's.

Benchmade has one of the best warranty departments around surpassed maybe only be Kershaw because they send out parts so willingly. They apparently have a problem with spam so they have some pretty tight filters to cut back on it. If you didn't get through it doesn't mean they have bad CS. Next time pick up the phone and give them a call.

I have also emailed them and not gotten a reply. But I have also emailed Spyderco a half dozen times and not got a reply from them either. It is not a problem specific to Benchmade. But when I call I get instant service which has been great. In my experience much better than Spyderco even though I really like Spyderco and have many more of their knives but that has been my experience.

An unanswered email isn't a great reason to write off a company's customer service department.

The very nice 530-901 REI exclusive with S30V blade is now discounted from $130 to $100 !

Your right, it's not great reason. I guess with all the fanboys and accolades, and with price tags higher then most other (if not all other) productions companies I was expecting more. I could be wrong, but Benchmade seems a lot like Sony to me. They built a great name by building a great product, but it seems they are now relying more on a name and a reputation that goes with that name to sell their product then actually maintaining the quality that earned them that name. When you can pick up a large blade from Kershaw with a composite blade with a D2 cutting edge, liners that are almost as thick as some frame locks, g10 scales, great FF, a sharp edge, with the best CS in the industry and something built out of equal quality material from BM would be double the price it's hard not to feel like you've been conned and a little jaded. Them not responding to an email (whatever the reason might be) felt like a snub and having to repeatedly try to contact CS felt like begging. All in all, I'm just not a BM fan, but that's OK, because there are plenty of folks who are, and there are plenty of other good knife companies to feed a persons knife addictions. I still like the looks of the 940, but it's hard to give up $140 for a blade with aluminum handles.
