No more Emerson Back Spacer?

Back spacer are history as I understand it. People will say they like em better than standoffs. People will say they like stand off better. Can not make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try.

Someone said above, "The standoffs do make it easier to flush out the knife with a hose if a lot of dirt, blood or pocket lint get lodges in the handle." Great point.

I have three models with backspacers. I like them. Extremely sturdy. I prefer stiff, rigid handles. I see no real difference in cleaning.

I always liked the backspacers also, & have a bunch of them.

I was pissed when a new CQC-7V I ordered came with standoffs. After I used it & took it apart a few times I actually changed my mind.

Standoff knives are definitely easier to take apart/clean etc. & you are definitely in better shape if you strip a screw during the process......

To me the benefit of the standoffs is you are no longer relying on threads tapped into titanium on the one side. Titanium is generally not good for threads, too soft.

Guys...

It's a simple matter for me to machine CQC-7 back spacers for the newer standoff model... the new flipper model too. I've already completed the CAD work however I do not happen to have a standoff CQC-7 on hand for a couple critical dimensions.

If someone would be willing to mic the diameter of the standoff and also the width of the standoff... that would be a big help! The thickness of the back spacer for the back spacer models is .190" however I'm uncertain if the standoff model retains the same liner gap spacing. If someone could supply me with those decimal dimensions I can write the g-code file to machine them up for those wanting back spacers.

The back spacer would simply slip over the standoffs...
