No More UFC Love?

Sounds like Dana White sold out some people who got him where he is now. He should have manned up and said that all of our sponsors have supported us long before Fox came along and if Fox wants to be part of the UFC family then the sponsors stay or no deal. I''m not sure what's crazier, Fox deciding that guns and knives are a bad example for people watching dudes crush each others bones or that Fox is trying to be the moral police despite having a lineup of shows that that include guns, knives and violence.....mind boggling!

Are you saying that knife and gun sponsors got Dana White where he is today? That might be a stretch sir. Now if you were to say, Dana is screwing fighters because they are the ones getting that extra money from the sponsors, I might agree. But gun and knife sponsors did not turn the UFC into the powerhouse it is today.

Let me say again what I said before. Dana White wants to get the UFC as mainstream as possible to make the most money and increase exposure. This includes defeating various legislation around the country (like NY) where MMA is still illegal. Unfortunately, politicians and the weak minded US public is easily swayed by seeing two images together...and jumping to the conclusion that the two are one and the same. I am not saying that I agree with this at all, I don't. But we have to look at the UFC as a business looking to expand into the mainstream. There is no sport in the world thats very existence is threatened by existing laws. Unfortunately that is the way it is, and until the laws have changed and mma is legal everywhere, the UFC will have to be conscious of their image. Maybe you guys don't remember the UFC when it first came out. But it gained national attention and Tipper Gore level obsessive anger from politicians everywhere claiming they were televising "death matches". The UFC's goal is to get mma legalized in every state and country around the world so that their market can be wide open. Since you are on this website, I assume you are aware of the general publics view on knives, THEY'RE WEAPONS! MADE TO KILL PEOPLE! But in reality, those of us in the know, understand they are tools that are perfect for a million and one different applications. The same thing applies to mma and the UFC. It is not the goal of the UFC to "sell out" or screw the gun and knife sponsors that have been with them all along. Their goal is to make their product marketable enough to the mainstream to get it legalized and in every home in the US.

I will end this rant by saying, I love Kershaw and Chael Sonnen and I hope that one day soon they will open their doors to your sponsorship once again. But lets not turn this into a conspiracy against knife and gun companies. Its simply a matter of making the product marketable to the biggest audience possible and legalizing mma around the country.

I just want to say it sucks but oh well. I can wait till Chael kick's Michael Bisping a$@!!! I think Chael is a much better fighter!!

Wow, that's a ridiculous move by UFC.

On the positive side, Thomas's Lolo posts in this thread have been hilarious! :D

Chael Sonnen just offered a disclaimer " fighting Chael is bad for your health " Say he can beat any man alive? Now I hope Bisbing knocks him into next week. Hit Chael with so many combinations a Locksmith wont be able to wake him up.

Im glad Chael won, I can't stand Michael Bisping

I remember a while back Shamrock talking about Dana White, he said that because of Dana's greed and inability to speak as a professional representing a brand that the UFC will only go so far until Dana is replaced. I have watched many interviews with Dana and I am inclined to agree with Shamrock. With Pro Boxing being where it is, it's prime time for UFC to step in. Hooking up with Fox is a start ( maybe a bad start ). Let see where this all goes. I am a fan and would like to stay that way. Sorry for the rant. John

I don't think you have to put much faith in what anyone says about how unprofessional Dana White is as an MMA representative. Just put faith in your ears and listen to him. He's like a seventh grader who thinks he's cooler by cursing.

I agree that he has the mouth of a seventh grader, but the statement that the UFC will only go "so far" doesn't make sense in my opinion. We just watched the UFC on FOX in a primetime spot on a Saturday evening. How much farther does the UFC need to go until they have gone past "so far"?

Well Chael won, as i wasn't a fan, i was less a fan of Bisping(again from what i've seen on air). Any friend of Thomas can't be all that bad. Congrats to Chael,

Now calling LoLo

I mean sure he was a little upset about not getting a 0560, but we worked it out...

Let's go Thomas! You're gonna eat lightning and crap thunder!

- It's all for pre-fight hype to get as many viewers as possible. Bisping and Sonnen have been on Inside MMA (weekly MMA new show on HDNet) and they have both been extremely polite and well spoken. Same with a lot of other fighters.

So we were all set to again sponsor Chael Sonnen in tonight's UFC event when...http://www.handgunsmag.com/2012/01/24/ufc-bans-gun-hunting-sponsors/

We were told yesterday that Chael will have to remove our logo from his trunks or cover it up.

Kai has supported many fighters over the years, and it's a shame that our support is no longer wanted. Sad.

I should add that no explanation was given for the decision.

Chael didn't look so good tonight. Won a close decision. Arguably lost the fight.

Could it be he lost his mojo with the loss of the Kershaw logo?

Oh, and don't tell him I said so, ok?

Those two guys fought with pure hatred for each other (it was friggin great). It almost made up for that first... fight (Maia vs. Weidman) that basically put me to sleep.

Going to be some more hatred when Jones and Evans go at it.

Bisping was robbed on that decision. one judge giving Sonnen a 30-27?
I'm sure both guys act their parts for hype.
Sonnen looked awful and maybe it was from the weight cut or more probable that Silva really was injured the first time they met. I like Bisping but did not think he would stand a chance against Sonnen. I figured Sonnen would dominate him, and I don't care for Sonnen, but thought for sure he'd pound out Bis. Seeing that match up last night and Bisping coming in on short notice makes me think that Sonnen will be creamed by a healthy Silva and I look forward to it! Altho I do appreciate the fact that Sonnen carries a knife manufacturer as a sponsor.
As for Dana I used to trust that he had nothing to do with the judging but after last night I wonder if the judges didn't get a nice pay off for making the rematch happen AND I wish Rogan would have popped Sonnen in the eye when he went into the Ric Flair imitation

Unfortunately you are wrong on Bisping winning. If you check Fightmetrics scores...http://blog.fightmetric.com/2012/01/sonnen-vs-bisping-official-ufc.html... you will see that Chael landed far more significant strikes, had more takedowns and dominated overall. On top of that, Bisping was repeatedly warned for headbutting, shorts grabbing and fence holding. There is a difference between the way in which a fight feels and the reality of who won. Bisping hung with Chael for sure, but all that proves is that Bisping is much better than anyone gives him credit for. Bisping's only loss is to olympian Dan Henderson, not too shabby.
edit** oh yeah, and chael now
