No pics in sales threads.

Hey, at least you put the pics up when you can Peter.

I personally haven't seen a pic in a thread where the OP said they'd put some up later.:thumbdn:

I pass on threads without photo's also. I have to be very interested to ask for Email photo's. Usually I am just window shopping, but I am a spur of the moment buyer so a sale is always possible. No photo and that chance is missed.
I certainly expect the same, while my threads are missing them.
Sales threads without photo's are not a great way to make sales and are only made worse if they don't contain a detailed description of the item.

I've done this just recently. PB did an update recently that just killed the app on my phone. Won't load. Some of us aren't very computer savvy, so even if it seems simple to you, it may not be for all of us. It's taking a while to figure another way top do this that is convenient and easy.

I'm not sure how everyone else posts and uploads pics when using their phone. I thought most use Tapatalk, and you could directly upload pics from the pictures stored on your phone. If you want to do it from the computer, couldn't you just upload the pics from iCloud or whatever android uses for cloud storage?

If you are using an actual camera, upload the pictures from the camera onto the hard drive and attach. I imagine not too many people are using a camera though

It doesn't really bother me when I see guys say "email me for pics", & it's because I realize that most of these guys are of an age/proclivity such that posting pics on a forum is not a skill they possess, while attaching pics onto an email reply is a skill that their 41yo daughter spent a combined 17-hrs teaching them. I myself am 41yo, & yes, I can post pics on this forum, but that's about the extent of my technical ability - I don't like high-tech stuff, I like low tech stuff, so I can only imagine how a good amount of guys from the generation before me must feel. I really don't mind clicking on a link to see pics either, as some earlier posters have mentioned - I mean, my goodness, it's a few extra times that my right index finger has to deliver .0001 joules so that I can see some cool knife pics & possibly end up with said knife.

I also loved when a few earlier posted mentioned the whole "net to me" & "plus shipping &-or PP Fees" & the like. The next knife I sell I'm going to say "Gross to me", & see how that turns out. I'm not sure if this one's been mentioned yet, but it cracks me up when sellers say add 5% or 6% or some other too high % to cover PP G&S fees. Not only are they forcing buyers to do math (86% of all Bladeforums members hate math), they're using PayPal's G&S fees as another profit center. But you know what really gets my goat?....famine. Millions of human beings are suffering right now in Somalia & many other parts of the world because they don't have access to food & clean water. But ya, not posting pics sucks too. Don't you hate that guy that has to be the topper...that guy that presents some extreme example in a conversation, only to try & belittle everyone else in a feeble attempt to mask his own insecurities? Those guys are jerks.

I don't own a smartphone/cellphone personally but I usually take pics w/ a relative's device, email them to myself, and save them on the computer. Then, I upload them to BF.

Sure, it's a few more steps involved than doing it via smartphone, but I like to have some good shots available so interested folks know what they are getting.

The way I see it is I'm the one posting something for sale so how can I expect s/o to buy it w/ out seeing the item right then and there? Of course issues can occur like the upload failing or the host server not working but those are rare.

(I have posted sales w/ out pics in the sale thread and instead emailing them to interested people, but I was new to the Exchange and its etiquette at the time. I also hadn't learned how to do it. Now, I include at least a few clear pics; folders may require more than that. I try to give them the closest thing to "being in their hand.")

Van, I'm sure you know that 87.7% of statistical percentages are made up figures;):D (including that/this one)

I won't buy an item totally sight unseen, but I don't mind having to email/text/etc. to get pics. You don't know someone else's situation and why they have chosen not to or aren't able to upload pictures. Perhaps they don't know how or have some sort of condition that precludes it. Even if they are just plain lazy, so what... if I want the item I'll try to accommodate the seller. There are situations where as a buyer, I graciously ask a seller to accommodate me in some way also, so I'm only giving the same grace I'd expect in return.

Regarding the age thing, I'm 54, and, while not a computer idiot, I'm not a tech genius. It wasn't difficult to learn how to do it through PB, and I don't figure it'll be too difficult to figure out another method. Yet, for me, not simple, either. So in the meantime, I've made 2 or 3 sale/trade posts since PB died, and said "email for pics". And guess what? People emailed for all of the ads, and my deals were made. So if you won't look, someone will.
I'll admit to preferring pics. But I don't mind as long as there's mention of emailing for pics.

And also along those lines, I will admit to having some apprehensions about learning a whole new system for this forum....

I believe some of the problem is people don't realize they have to resize there photos to post on most forums. Click on your picture in windows then go up top and click paint. When in paint go up to the left hand corner and click resize and lower the size of your photo.

I've always had trouble uploading photos from my phone. I just figured out a way on another site. I text the photo to myself and it's automatically resized. I can't remember if that'll help on Bladeforums but hopefully it helps someone.

I'm one of those people that makes sales threads without photos, at least recently on other forums. It doesn't help... If you have an interesting item the photo triggers impulse purchases.

When I am in the Exchange, it is very rare I am looking for a particular knife. I just click away and window shop. If the window is empty I just move on.
