I have emailed serveral people about trades in the last few days and have only gotten replies to about half of them.Is anyone else haveing this problem.

Get used to it, a lot of people have the habit of not answering if they're not interested. Fun huh?

I am making a list of pissants who can't be bothered to reply to me, because I have reached my friggin limit with that crap...they can be sure I will remember them quite clearly when I end up with something they want and they email me about it.

What really got me was haveing someone email me about a trade that I had up asking what I had to trade and after sending them what IMO was a very good offer not hearing anything else.

Noticed the same thing, but it's been especially bad lately. Kinda wondering why myself. It's not too difficult to do a "Thanks, but no Thanks" reply. A reflection on the selfishness and laziness of society in general? Their mothers' dropped them on their heads as babies? Nah, with almost 17,000 members, you'll get all types, as Jake said, we just gotta get used to it.

Take care, Jeff

(ps - just responded to you question on surefires...)

Yeah most people are too lazy to turn their signal
lights on so typing on a computer is definetly asking
too much.

ooooooooooohhhhh i hope ya aint talking about me, been having EM probs for about the last 2 weeks, but i THINK i finally got them all/got the prob sorted out.

also, my BF em addy is now under my sons name, so if ya em me thru BF my son gets it, and he is SLOW about forwarding them, i guess i should change that, but usually check his mail about once a week, and, gen'ly i initiate contact from my other account so ya will have the right one anyway.

so not everybodies a butt lol, sometimes if ya dont get a reply, try again, the other party may be experiencing technical difficulties/other probs

agree ya should answer all EM's, even if not interested, only takes a sec to say 'no'

so i apologise if anyone has had probs contacting me....

It only takes about one minute at most to change the email address in your profile. Click on the "user cp" button to get to your user control panel, then click "Edit Profile" and it's the first option, right at the top of the page ... just type the new address into the box.

I always respond to MY emails as quickly as possible...Usually within a few minutes, but then, I have "Instant Messenger" with both of my "free email accounts", so that lets me know when I have received an email without delay.:).

Not responding to an email IS just SOOOOOOOO rude....

That reminds me, I have an e-mail to return...:o
I usually try to respond within a day, though I sometimes miss.

It seems common courtesy has fallen by the wayside in today's culture. It's understandable to get busy and forget, but some don't care about it. I try to follow the Golden Rule- Mt7:12. I wish more would do the same.:(

I've also been having that problem. Personally, I try to reply to emails within 24 hours, though sometimes I can't. I also understand that some people aren't always online so I don't mind as long as they get back to me within 2 or 3 days. But recently, I've had a number of people say they are very interested, even to the point of saying that they'll definitely buy my knife, and then stop responding to emails. On one occasion, a guy told me he was interested in a knife I had but then stopped replying (no deal had yet been reached). After three weeks or so I worked out a deal with someone else, but when the first guy saw that the item was no longer available, he sent me a nasty email about it!

Sometimes people ask me to put a knife on hold for them so that they can raise the necessary funds. I usually agree unless I really need to sell the item (when I'm short on money myself). In return, however, I expect the buyer to remain in contact. More than once have I put a knife on hold, never to hear from the interested party ever again...and since I promised to hold the knife, I had to turn away all other offers! :grumpy:

On the other hand, I think the reason that no answer or a slow answer is so irritating is that most people here are really good about communicating. The ones who aren't stand out by comparison.

For example, I had e-mailed Biohazard about an item he was selling, that I could only use if I got the equipment it worked with from another seller, mschwoeb. I asked if he would hold it, he agreed, I heard from m(ichael )schwoeb(el) that he'd sell me the equipment, and I got back to Biohazard. Everything worked out great, no aggravation and not much waiting, either, because both of them kept in touch. Even when it's complicated, it's still supposed to be fun!

One thing that seems to work for me is my final tag on any trade or purchase offer. I always try to end it with "Let me know what you think". This allows the other person to either accept, haggle, ask me to wait a while, or tell me to go get bent. Either way, as long as I get a responce, I'm alright with it.
What steams me about slow replies is that I have a limited number of trading material or money at any given time. Once I make an offer, I try to avoid offering the same item on another deal until I hear back from the first guy. If they don't respond, I can be tied up for a week or more until I finally hear something back or give up. That, my friends, chaps my keester.

Thats the bigest thing that bothers me,waiting to hear back from a earlier trade offer and haveing more offers come in and haveing to tell them that you are waiting on someone to email you.

It bugs me not to get an answer in a timely manner but sometimes it is normal. Not everybody checks the email on daily basis. I remember last year I sent an email to a knifemaker asking about one of his knives. After two weeks and no reply, I decided he's not going to answer and bought one of his knives from a dealer. After two more weeks he replied and said he can sell me that knife. Aparently he's not a computer person and checks his mail like once a month. It was kinda embarrasing to tell him I already got it from the dealer X. :o
Now I know better and if I send an email to someone that might not be online very often, I wait a couple of months before giving up.

Yep, happens to me maybe 1/4 of the time I send an offer. Annoys me 'cause I don't know if the person didn't get the email or got it and was just uninterested or was too offended by my offer to speak!!!

I try to stay right on top of my email, but lately I've been having wicked bad trouble with my server. I use Adelphia. It's usually very fast, but lately its been terrible. I've been getting at least 4 emails every week now that it says can't be read due to problems. Those really leave you wondering. The last few days I've had to restart my computer just to get a single message out and then it still won't receive messages. I hate the thought of going back to a 56K connection.
