No rules bowie

Of course the clever guard takes center stage. As it should.

I'm also liking the subtle details: How you left the choil and fluted area polished, and the clean checkering.

<------------BOX------------> Bruce.

I'm going to jump in with the pack Bruce. This is one of the nicest things we've seen in a while. Very cool.

It's an interesting piece.

I was a judge at the show it was entered in ,and am afraid that saying too much will be unfair to everyone, so I will just leave it at that(except to say I like Bruce very much, and there was no bias)

Best Regards,

When I first saw the "joint" in the guard, I said "wtf", but when I saw the swinging
guard, I said, "WTF!!!!!". Bruce, where do you keep coming up with all your unique
designs? Amazing.

Bruce, Would have liked to get a closer look. What I was able to see was quite impressive. But it was way too busy Saturday. I would have liked to chat with you a little. Been way too long for both of us.

Thanks guys. I thrive on compliments.
Bing, I too missed our annual discussions, if we wouldn't have left the show half way through we could have had some time Sunday. Yep Saturday was crazy busy!

 Wowzerz!!!!! First Swing Guard Bowie I have ever seen. Incredible work:thumbup:

That is SO ridiculously cool. That damascus pattern is GORGEOUS.

I don't suppose you have any left over that you'd be willing to part with :)

I've looked and looked, and don't see the gun barrel. Is it hidden in the guard?:D Just kidding, of course, but it wouldn't surprise me all that much if you had a small cal. gun hidden in the handle or somewhere. Bruce, seriously, that's an awesome knife!

David, I do think there is room for a barrel in this one. The frame is plenty wide enough. Next time :)

Congrats to you Bruce for successfully came out with this beautiful and creatively built Bowie
Thanks for showing and telling :)

Is the whole blade built from a single piece of a damascus steel or is it built from a piece of damscus steel that was joined to a mono steel at the ricasso?
Or is the damascus steel was wisely covered with a mono steel starting from the choil and the ricasso?
Or is it just the differential etching technique that was finely done at rhe ricasso?

Duh .. so sorry for the stupid question, Bruce .. but I'm just very curious .. and thanks in advance :o

The Damascus blade has a 3/4 length tang and a mono 416 stainless frame. You can see where the blade mounts into the frame in this picture at the ricasso area. There are four 3/16" stainless pins completely through the tang and the frame from top to bottom to marry the blade solidly to the frame. The stainless liners are on both sides and also peened with several pins for further rigidity. There are no rules with this Bowie.

I seen the joint on the guard but I wasn't expecting that, stunning and refreshing to see something new.
