no stick in sight ?

BTW, I just read my post so here is any clariications needed. She was a stripper that lived in the building that I was the security guard for. She had gotten attacked and that's that, so no funny business coming out, OK.

When I was in junior high, a girl got whacked in the head with a high-heeled shoe. Fairly impressive hole and a tremendous amount of blood. She ran through the school, stopping in various classrooms to babble incoherently.

So, that worked.

If someone were a fair distance from me, I'd start throwing things at their head. Looking around, I see hardcover books, shoes, an alarm clock, a coffee mug (ow), pencils, and one of those oversized brandy snifters (ow!). Any one of these would give a man pause and allow me to close or flee. Most places have stuff; it just takes a little ingenuity to determine how that stuff may be used.

While almost anything can be used as a weapon, I would try to avoid anything expensive (unless it's a knife or a gun, of course). For example, I wouldn't use my Palm Vx as a fist load, even though it would be a formidable one.

One of my guros remarked the other night that he was always well armed, then he held up his hands and kicked me in the knee.

Alternative weapons?

Metal ruler - carry in hip pocket of painter's pants, perfect place for it.

Piece of heavy gauge natural rubber tubing, like what some of those heavy duty sling shots have. Can whip it, or sling it or snap it. About 18 inches worth rolls up on the pocket quite easily.

Laser pen light - Might now be outlawed in some states but if you do lectures and have a geek pocket protector with a compass and protractor...use of a laser to distract should be obvious.

Baseball cap - good and handy, whipped off head into the opponent's eyes all of a sudden, with no telegraph - very effective.

Long handled flashlight - maglite -used- to make a 5-cell AA flashlight. Very nice, and thin, but relatively thick aluminum tube. Now it's hard to find the next best, a 6 cell C battery flashlight. Feels just like a heavy rattan in length and heft. Carry in loop in painter's pants, also.

Roll of heavy medical adhesive tape. Makes for a quik set of bag gloves, wrap around knuckles 2-3 times. Saves on getting cut by the opponent's teeth, if you have time to get it out, etc.

Roll of coins, fist load.

Old wallet, with old cards in it. If accosted by strong arm wannabe, throw the wallet south, run north. Very effective, as the thief always goes for the wallet, giving you a big headstart!

"Texas tie" (metal tipped) - if you can stand the embarrassment of wearing it, heh, using it as a flail. Also be aware of using anything the opponent has on his body/neck to grab and pull in while striking him.

Little squirt bottle (about 3 inches tall, flat. Find in any Hiking/sporting stores. Fill with 1/2 cloudy ammonia, and water. A quick squirt can chase off those doggies that wanna bite your ankles when jogging. How else you use it is up to you! ;-)

One other thing that I like to carry when going to the clubs that do a search is a rattan pocket stick with a knife clip on it. Anyone asking about it, gets a story about how I study Filipino Massage, Hilot and this is where the nerves are...blah blah blah...Datu Kelley wordon also has some very nice "training karambits" that are made of some type of plastic. Stuart knows more about where to get these, so Stuart???
