No Weld Grinder?

I welded mine without bolting it together first and it works great.

very beautiful set up.
Thanks for the pictures.

I am in Thailand.

Althought I am not a very good knife maker but I love to make knives and at the same time I love to improve system in knife making.

I own one Dozier grinder in my workshop.
I wanted to puchase KMG Grinder but the maker refused to export to my area and so I am making it now from the lead from the lead of Decker here sometimes ago (please accept my sincere appreciation).

The following pictures are grinder in my workshop and WIP for KMG concept which I have our people to re-drawing into metric and try tp upgrade to what I can. Started with 3 units.
they are not cheap to make the same machine but somehow, last time it cost me to pay to FEDEX for shipment cahrges US$ 1700.- which is the price for another machine.

Nice work, I sure do wish that I had access to a full machine shop! It has been so long since I ran a mill i probly wouldn't know what to do anyway lol!

Nice work!

I was wondering when will we have the opportunity to get the KMG ( copy ) from Thailand.....

I think it's happening! ( Maybe not yet, but soon, very soon ! )

Thanks, but we do not have the capacity to export.
Our production cost is very high and we do thing only for our own use.
We only enjoy knife making as hobby.

If we would export, we will come with our own design.
See our other version which is our study.

I heard a rumour that the No Weld made grinders had tracking issues.... Is that true?

Also, what do you think an average build would run with those plans?

Hi Friends,

You can check out this page, http://www.mickleyknives.com/html/no_weld_grinder.html, for some estimates (browse down the page a bit).

I have been rounding stuff up for months now. I've scrounged most all the steel. I just need a few more pieces to wrap it up. I got a 10" wheel from Sunray, for 75 bucks I think it was. Picked up some 2" skate board wheels with bearings from eBay for idlers. Also got a hefty DC motor and variable drive from other folks on eBay. All together I guess there's about $500 bucks in it (a little at a time; some of it gifted, thanks Santa!). Oh ya, I'm doing some welding on it too.

I guess I've heard, from time to time, tracking questions and challenges with almost every make of grinder. Typically the solutions are enhancing the crown of the tracking wheel (often with tape) and increasing the tension.

Anyway, cost will vary depending on how much scrounging and second hand and bargain shopping you do, what steel and shop build resources you have, how much of a top-of-the-line buyer you are, and how many grinding options you want.

As for the erector set, hmmm.... I had a friend in his nineties said he stopped believing in Santa Clause when he turned 90. Upon being asked why was that. He said, since he got old he had been asking Santa to bring him an erector set for years, but never got one! Do you think the NWG would have done the trick? Just about does it for me!

All the best, Phil

No tracking issues at all.

Cost will depend on how creative you get with acquiring materials.
My machine was running at around $300.00 I have improved and added tools to it now so my investment has doubled.
