No WIPs in the Custom forum?

For what its worth my time is too valuable to be running around the entire forum looking for threads of interest, as a custom knife collector i look pretty much exclusively in the custom and handmade section and feel that if a due paying member and maker has gone the trouble of creating a thread to display their process in that section then its presumptuous and disrespectful of a mod to move it without prior approval of the original poster. I would like to see all the threads that have just been moved restored to where they were personally.

Hello!

Karda, out of interest, were you actually the one that moved the WIPs?

Regards,
Alex

I haven't contributed a lot to a thread that I started.. but I don't have the perspective that many of you have from a time stand point. All I know is that when I first started using this forum (C&H) folks were posting WIPs and they were wildly popular it seemed. I learned a lot myself. So.. it was a surprise to see these recent thread re-locations. Especially without a courteous explanation or even a re-direct. But I'm happy to see the support here as it is a great joy for me to do this sort of thing. I like taking pictures.. and I like teaching.

Another thing that is odd... this is the first time I've seen a thread removal in a forum that didn't violate any rules or posted guidelines.

Well I suspect that this was done purposefully to bring the issue to the table (and perhaps plant the seed of discouragement and temper the number of such posts?)and that the timing was related to the circumstance of having three going at the same time and two of them very similar.

I consider the Custom forum my home sub-forum on BladeForums.com and find the WIPs
invaluable in my education and purchases from the excellent makers that post them there.
Thank you one and all !
I sure hope they are allowed to be welcome to post them there.

Doug

I like reading WIP's in Custom & Handmade Knives.

I don't understand why anyone would move a WIP from C&H when knifemakers have been posting them there for more than a decade.

I also don't understand why a moderator continues to drive collectors and knifemakers away from Blade Forums.

thanks to all who shared and to the mods for being willing to hear us all out, even when diplomacy is strained on both sides (>.<)

i think if there is still an issue of overflow, a subdivision of the custom area would be the best place for wips...

hopefully to the relief of the mods: personally i can't keep up the current pace of photo editing and posting indefinitely, and i have a website that does fine as a place to share with the world

...but the project i am working on now has roots in the custom forum so its important to me to share it there...

I opened up a link in Service and Support to this thread.

It is an arbitrary and over-zealous move by a Super Mod imo, and it is WRONG!!!!!!

Can one appreciate any art fully without knowing its backstory? Many of the knives posted in C&H I find strikingly beautiful, but those last few pictures in a high calibre WIP strike me like no other. Why? Because I have glimpsed the sweat, blood, and tears that knifemaker poured into his knife, his passion, his dedication to the craft...

My word means nothing. I cannot afford to own the knives I see here, but let me at least say that the WIPs from our custom knifemakers draw me back to C&H more than anything else.

My apologies
I made this post not realising that the issue had been resolved elsewhere. I have deleted it.
Please ignore………...
