can’t hop on the ZT bus
Purchased my first zt 452 first day approx 20 flips the knife got stuck. Blade and screws where loose. Sent in to ZT figured everyone has a bad day. Just received back after almost a month. Screws falling out AGAIN! Talked to a Dan. His only option send back do it all over. I asked can I please just exchange for a new same model. No we don’t do that. I can send you postage and you can send back. I said that being without a knife for 2 months that’s brand new never used is completely unexceptable . His answer was that’s all they would do.

I told Dan that I would warn others of this experience. I will sell the knife and move on to better more reliable brands . The materials sound great but the execution is clearly poor. I have a Koenig , Benchmades , spiderco, etc... never this poor service or chain of events . They failed twice with documentation to prove and did nothing besides give lame answers. This knife will not hold up to any of the above mentioned clearly Buyer beware .

One of the easiest knives to fix from what I here in the world but can’t exchange a lemon for a working model?

Got my first Koenig awesome knife worth the extra $$

This should be in the GBU.
I have two ZT flippers, no problems whatsoever yet.
IBTM!:D

I have had Kershaw but no ZT knives I will say I am dumping my Kershaw or major for 2 reasons I am done with the lower end budget Chinese knives and I don't care for AO knives of which majority of Kershaw knives are. I have been interested in some ZT models but usually don't find enough to fit the price for me but this is the first I have heard bad about them along these lines. I can't say I have been swayed it is one bad experience in a sea of relative praise for them so I for now will require my own experience to decide if I accept ZT.

Sucks to have to send a knife back once much less twice. I know any company can put out a lemon time to time, but it’s how they handle the issue that makes or breaks customer service.

I normally fix anything I can fix since I hate sending anything back and waiting for it’s return. Is there anyway you can lock tight the screws back down and prevent them from backing out again.

Never had a problem with any of the ZT's I've owned.(knock on wood) Time to move on to a CRK, then you won't want to buy any other knives. :D

Did you try tightening the screws?

You made a Typo there, didn't you mean IBTL ? o_O:D

I have like....10 ? ZT's, and not all had threadlocker, good thing I know how to use Loctite where needed. Also Spandex Lady, care to give some info on the timeline? Cause you talk about having it 24 hours, sending it back and then mentioning 2 months turn around from ZT? Sounds weird to me.

Spiderco is good but ZT is good too, in my experience. Never had a problem with one of their knives NIB.

I used to own the 0452 and it was a great knife. IMO, if you had to send the knife back twice for manufacturer related issues, they should replace it. As frustrating as it is having to send a knife back twice , then top it off with disappointing CS, I have owned 3 with no QC issues, so my experience with KAI has been very positive. I had to send a Benchmade Stryker back twice only to experience issues afterwards. I was disappointed with the brand for a while and decided to give them another shot and have not been disappointed.
I suggest to try a different model instead of pulling away completely.

Was it bought new from a dealer? They should be the ones to be swapping you for a different knife, not ZT. That really should have been your first move, not CS...let the dealer handle that part.

Odd that you had a negative experience with their customer service, they have some of the best service in the industry. When you say screws were falling out....did you try any adjustments on your own? Which screws were falling out....handle, pivot?

Don't just sell a knife that's a lemon for someone else to deal with...that's never a good move. Before you sell a problem knife I'd be more than happy to tune it up for you if you like, that's all it sounds like it needs.

ScooterG, please pardon my ignorance, I have NO idea what you said and you received numerous likes. :( By the way, as I mentioned on another thread, I LOVE your avatar.

Tbo zt is off my list these days. Nothing I like plus lock geometry issues. Just too tactical and too thick behind the edge. They don't cater to enthusiasts either. They are a volume manufacturer.

Your issue can be solved by using locktite... Just don't use red locktite. Blue works decent. Or... Vibratite which is similar but allows you to disassemble and still use the same application at least one more time.

In any case zt's shouldn't be dropping screws without locktite. It must be a defect they don't care to admit.

Also they are really rude on forums and social media. It's hilarious but also wrong.

Yes, he received multiple likes. I trust there isn't an issue with that.

Just "reporting" not complaining. I like my ZTs. I have a ZT frame-lock ltd ed that was not locking up properly. I placed my hand on the back of the knife to see how little pressure it was closing under and I got stabbed in the pinky. Started bleeding like all get out....so obviously I laughed/cried and said it was a good knife nonetheless. I take part of the blame in this misadventure. It's going back on the 4th for warranty work.

I think every knife manufacturer or bladesmith is capable of producing a lemon. This is my 4th ZT and first issue.

It was Instagram Speech for "Okay, HotSpanxLady (verbatim), bye." it was a dismissive way of acknowledging her statement without agreeing with it and instead sending her onto her way.
