Nomadicphotographer among the bad!

My first email with nomadicphotograher about the condition of a Bob Lum Spyderco Chinese folder that he had posted on the production knife exchange forum. He replied that it was brand spanking new.

I made an counteroffer which was less than his asking price. Instead of accepting or refusing my offer in a civil manner, he proceeded to send me a string of emails with some outright lies about the knife in question.

Among the lies are that the knife sold the afternoon before I inquired about it. Also that he had already recieved the money for it.

Naturally, I asked why he even bothered to reply to the state of the knife. He replied with a query as to if "I wanted clam chowda". This is naturally showing that he believes that his communications with me are totally without consequence.

Based on the strength of these few emails, I would not do business with nomadicphotograher in the future and warn you to do so at your own peril.
 
I just purchased a knife from him...should be here in a few days. Will let you know how it turns out.
 
With as many knives that he has for sale, you would think that he is a dealer.....looks kinda suspicious to me. Personally, I wouldn't do any business with him until more feedback is posted about his transactions.

Just did a little checking and ALL of the posts that this guy has posted, and threads that he has started, are ONLY in the For Sale forums.

EZ, hopefully things will go good for you. Please keep us informed.
 
Was going to buy a Trailmaster from him.Would not give an address other than a PO Box#. Asked for referals. Did not get an answer.Did not send the money.
We'll see.
 
I like to give a guy the benefit of the doubt - but he has been relatively incommunicative and is not an active member of the BF community here - that combined with his high prices makes me stay away...

I really wish there was some other requirement to sell than the gold membership. People that just sell and dont contribute anything to the community are just not cool IMO.
 
FYI Bokers' email address has the name Jimmy Hadley in it., but I can not tie NomadP to Hadley from the info I can see.

Because of his lack of communication via email, I would not trust that any problem will be dealt with properly should one arise.

Also, I noticed that all his posts are in the for sale area as well. Funny thing, you would think that he would be better at selling if that is all he does here.

Nuff said. Nomadicphotograher is not on my list of people to do business with.
 
Guys, I gotta say, I have bought 2 knives from NomadicP and I have had NO problems. I received one perfectly on time and, I have a package at the PO awaiting pick up. I think it is the other knife. It would put it in the right timeframe from when he said he mailed it.

He can be a little slow to answer emails, but, so can almost anyone. I can only testify to the service he has given me. I have to say, if the price is right, I will probably buy from him again, but you are right, if I had received the service you had, I would not have bought more.

And NO, he is not Jimmy Hadley in OK. NomadicP is in California.

the only thing that concerns me is his presence on BFC. i mean, perhaps when you purchase a Gold Membership, you can sell as much as you want, with zero participation in any other forum, but still... the amount of items up for sale, the prices he's asking and the fact that he only posts in the "for sale" forum (as previously mentioned) make him seem like a dealer. whether or not the stuff is used or new, or if he's selling multiples shouldn't matter.

I'm keeping both eyes on this "nomad..." guy. If anyone has solid evidence that he is a dealer, please let one of us moderators know, and we will take appropriate action.

I don't understand how the amount of knives amounts to sayoing the guy is a dealer.
I haven't seen anything listed I wanted to buy, but the same issue came up with someone last year that was selling off a LOT of lightfoot knives are really nice prices. And the guy was ragged on about that to the point where I think he went elsewhere to sell his knives, before I got a chance to buy one that I wanted a lot.
Meanwhile, the *hugest* quantities of knives I see being sold by individuals would for sure be Busse knives in the production forum. Sometimes it almost seems like a factory outlet!

I can certainly understand the moderator's concerns abou dealers selling with a gold membership here, but heck, in some instances (like the guy selling the lightfoot knives) the prices were a lot lower than any dealer would sell them at, and it waqs pretty obvious he was not a dealer selling at a low profit margin.

I don't get it..........

Well, the other knife I ordered from NP came in today. It was a used Fallkniven H1. It arrived when he said it would. It was a trade.

I was given a street address ti send my knife. I have had good service from him. David

Maybe some of you folks need to look at the entitlements that come with being a “Gold Member.”

Nowhere, in the Gold Membership thingy does it state that one is restricted to selling a “certain quantity” of knives within a “specific amount of time.”

No where in the Gold Membership thingy does it state that certain or specific “sub-forums” must be visited or a certain number of posts be made to sell one’s wares.

HELLLLLO. . . . .believe it or not. . . .there are people. . . .that actually frequent one or two specific sub-forums (i.e., Bali, Spyderco, CRK, Makers, Political, etc.). Maybe you need to label them “suspicious,” too ! :rolleyes:


It's also easy to kick back and talk trash about someone because they don't have "feedback" dangling off of them. Well. . . .I've taken a look at the feedback on several of the fire starters in this thread. . . .I SEE LITTLE TO NOTHING AS FAR AS FEEDBACK ON YOU ! :D So. . . .based on that CRITERIA. . . .the LACK OF FEEDBACK. . . .NO ONE should have any dealings with YOU ! :confused: *shakes head*


What I see in this thread. . . .someone tried to "low ball" the seller ( which can be very offensive to some ). Someone wanted to play tit-for-tat and seller didn't like it. Panties are bunched and now there's retaliation. Its not that he was unresponsive. Its that he responded with a boat load of BS and then some taunting that struck a cord with me.

I could care less if he spends the rest of his days in the sale forums.

I am concerned with the "quality" of the communications.

He basically snubbed me, lied about the particulars of an item in the sale forums, taunted me and then turned to stone.

I have the emails and the date/time stamps on them.

This shows what the guy is capable of and does do if he doesn't have particularly good feelings for you.

That also means that this behavior can emerge if you have a trade or sale dispute from the guy. - Which is the main reason I thought it appropriate to start a thread like this.

To those that have had good dealings with him, more power to you.

I'm just glad it didn't cost me anything to learn about this guys lack of character.


BTW, David, I don't think you ordered anything from him. You made a trade, if you were ordering items from him that means that he has more than one in stock and is operating a resale business If that was the case, the moderators will definitely have an issue with this guy as he only has a gold membership.
