A lower offer in the course of buying something is a standard and everyday occurance. A simple no thanks is all it takes. Not three or four emails with BS in it that goes like:

"It sold the afternoon before your first email."
"To a higher bidder than you"
"In fact I already recieved the money"
"You like clam chowda?"

This is the substance of the emails that I have in my possesion.

If you think this thread is unwarranted, you are in entitled to your opinion. If you want evidence, its in my email inbox. I don't have evidence of deal gone wrong. I do have evidence of breach of protocol.

To me, these type of emails are a serious breach of etiquette and protocol for doing business on the forums. I hope that documentation of this sort will serve as a warning to prevent future incidents for whomever.

Maybe some of you folks need to look at the entitlements that come with being a “Gold Member.”

Nowhere, in the Gold Membership thingy does it state that one is restricted to selling a “certain quantity” of knives within a “specific amount of time.”

No where in the Gold Membership thingy does it state that certain or specific “sub-forums” must be visited or a certain number of posts be made to sell one’s wares.

HELLLLLO. . . . .believe it or not. . . .there are people. . . .that actually frequent one or two specific sub-forums (i.e., Bali, Spyderco, CRK, Makers, Political, etc.). Maybe you need to label them “suspicious,” too !


It's also easy to kick back and talk trash about someone because they don't have "feedback" dangling off of them. Well. . . .I've taken a look at the feedback on several of the fire starters in this thread. . . .I SEE LITTLE TO NOTHING AS FAR AS FEEDBACK ON YOU ! So. . . .based on that CRITERIA. . . .the LACK OF FEEDBACK. . . .NO ONE should have any dealings with YOU ! *shakes head*


What I see in this thread. . . .someone tried to "low ball" the seller ( which can be very offensive to some ). Someone wanted to play tit-for-tat and seller didn't like it. Panties are bunched and now there's retaliation. Gig - I hear you - but I still feel (and maybe that's 100% irrelevant due to the rules here governing who can do what) that if you are going to post only to sell, not participate in an online community, and then be unresponsive to emails regarding that things you do sell, then in my book you are the opposite of many of the very cool people I deal with and interact with here every day. Just my .02

I have purchased, requested, inquired about, ORDERED, whatever you want to call it, many knives and pieces of equipment, on this forum, from MANY people. I have sold many as well, some to Moderators. I have also traded and PURCHASED with NP. I have sold more than one knife of the same kind on this forum, and I am NOT a dealer. I do not have a business license. I do not have a shop, storefront, web or otherwise. I am a guy that has collected numerous kinds of knives over the years, and IF I liked one, I bought MORE.

If your nickers are in a bunch because you did not like the your experience with the guy, fine. Post to this forum. But, because I had a "good experience" dealing with him, get off my back. I think the GBU forum is to show both sides of a situation. If you don't like him, fine. If I do like him, fine. If you have a problem with the fact someone had a better experience with a member on the forum than you did, YOU HAVE THE PROBLEM!!!!! Grow up and get over it.

You made a trade, if you were ordering items from him that means that he has more than one in stock and is operating a resale business If that was the case, the moderators will definitely have an issue with this guy as he only has a gold membership.

The only thing that I can add. . . .we don't know his work schedule, other commitments, access to e-mail/internet, etc., are. So, passing judgement on someone that "we" don't know. . . .is a very bad thing.

I think that a number of folks are shooting in the wind. . . .in hopes of hitting "something."

What you have done is stirred a pot about someone else, who I might add has treated others respectfully, and then tried to "downplay" my positive response about the guy. Personally, I don't know him, and I don't know you. From what I have been exposed to about both of your characters, I prefer NP.

We all need to be careful of the crap that gets started. I mean CRAP. Because Sundsvall posted a bad note, others jumped in with what looked like a witch hunt. I can appreciate not wanting dishonesty. I don't want that either. I am in a dispute with a knifemaker over just the same thing, over a SUBSTANTUAL amount of money. It is difficult to prove this type of misrepresentation. Unless someone receives a package labeled "Bla Bla Knifeshop" and they are a gold member, it is going to be hard. But, I am not a Mod, so I will leave that to their capable hands. For all the others to go half cocked and look for reasons, no matter how unfounded, to bash the guy, well, that is just as wrong.

I have been fortunate. I have had GREAT dealings with everyone I have traded, sold to , bought from and corresponded with. The fact that he may not have been interested in your lowball of his offering, well, I can't speak for him. Personally, I love bartering. I have gone to head with the best (Yiterp... LOL). Others may be offended, just as offended as you with email silence. He has answered EVERY email I sent. He has also represented every knife I have taken posession of, from him, perfectly accurately. He shipped quickly. And yes, he bartered with me. What more does one want?

I am used to better communications here on BF, especially when I did and would like to buy and sell knives on this forum in the future. I hold the people on the other end of the transaction to a the same standard I set for myself.

As a buyer or a seller, I would never disrespect my counterpart and strive to behave in a manner that inspires trust.

Thats it. All the rest of the stuff flying around about the guy being a dealer is extraneous and without merit.

I just wanted to say that I just received the knife I ordered from Justin (Nomadicphotographer) this afternoon. The knife was exactly as described and arrived promptly. The knife was packaged well. He also insured it, had delivery confirmation and delivery signature. Email communication was good, and he seems like a nice guy.

I sent him a money order so, if he wanted to rip me off, he could have easily done so. I got the knife for a good price, and I'm pleased with it.

I don't have any reservation in recommending Justin to other BF members.

While all of his posts are in the for sale forum, I don't see a problem with that. My transaction with him went smoothly, and that's all I can ask for.
