I know I already asked a question a few days ago so hopefully I am not posting too many threads but I'm looking for a good EDC knife for under $100 but I have linerlocks, they have their purpose but I'm not a fan so does anyone have any suggestions for a NON linerlocking knife under $100? Ive looked at coldsteels folders but only the AK-47, american lawman and recon one grabbed me so I'm looking for other options before I buy.

Spyderco has quite a few lockbacks for under a $100, and they are excellent!

Endura

Delica

Pacific salt

Salt 1

Stretch

The Enduras and delicas now even come in FFG versions and they are AWESOME slicers!

Hope this helps

That is such a broad question. What are you looking for ?

Framelock , Axis , backlock ?
Tactical , Gents , Sheeple friendly ?
G10 , Titanium , Stainless , wood ?
Drop point , clip point , Tanto ?
American made , Chinese made , European made ?
Kershaw , Spyderco , Benchmade , Buck ?

Preferably something like a axis or backlock though anything that wont fail with a bit of pressure will work, tactical would be best sheeple don't really exist here, any point but tanto, American is prefered but again does not really matter, can be any maker though I like benchmades and kershaw.

need more info on purpose.

slipjoint? (SAK, trapper, or stockman pattern)
ringlock? (Opinel)
traditional backlock? (buck 110/112, spyderco, kershaw)

I'm looking for a good multipurpose tactical folder with a strong lock. I like the benchmade 710 but its slightly too much so I'm looking for similiar cheaper knives with a decent blade size.

Benchmade 940. if you look hard enough I think you can find it for slightly over 100.

edit: nevermind about slightly over 100. that must have been a used one. if you don't want to go used go with a paramillitary. that's technically not a liner lock, and it's higher quality than the CS offerings.

griptilians can be had for under 100, the axis lock is pretty awesome.

or you could buy a couple buck model 110's, but they're not all that tactical looking.

Ok my reco's.

Do you love smooth flippers ? Kershaw Groove wil impress your socks off , a lot of blade for the money and top notch warranty.

Kershaw RAM - Feels like a far more expensive knife, flipper.... so sharp I cut my finger just thinking about mine !

Kershaw Lahar - Semi-sleeper ! G10 , VG10 flipper , chunky, strong yet sharp blade and one of the best values out there ! edit - Japan.

All three are excellent knives made by an excellent company here in good 'ol America , out of the three the RAM has a really thin tip , not quite in the tank like class of the Groove and Lahar.

knifeworks has them for slightly over 100 after their coupon.

how about the grip?

I'm really liking that griptilian, however I'm getting some VERY good suggestions all around I could see myself buying any of the mentioned.

EDIT: Can anyone weigh in on Benchmade 154CM VS Spyderco VG10 as far as which has better edge retention? Also does the spyderco endura 4 or the benchmade griptilian usually come sharper?

+1 on the paramilitary. one of the strongest locks out there. I already have 2 and within the last week or so ive seen 3 sold on the forums for less than 100 bucks. One for 50 in good shape. Cant go wrong with the afore mentioned benchmades or kershaws either.

Griptilian has already been mentioned, the tri-ad CS knives as well.

I have many of the knives mentioned in this thread, such as an Opinel #8; two Griptilians, in D2 and 154Cm, Endura waved, a full-size Barrage and am waiting for a Kershaw R.A.M. and a Spyderco Native to come in the mail. They are all excellent, I would suggest any of those knives. And as for deals I recommend looking at what Amazon has, they have some screaming deals (such as a BM 741 for $120).

Spyderco Manix II
Spyderco Stretch
Spyderco Endura or Delica
Kershaw Groove
Kershaw JYD II Ti/SG2 Blem
Kershaw CB Leek
Kershaw RAM

In my experience VG-10 and 154CM wear extremely well, I like both steels. And as for which knife came sharpest out of the box, that would be my D2 Griptilian followed by the Endura.
