The sad thing is that the guy went and got a other one, and you can hear metal grinding when it opens. I expect it to break if he ever tries to use it for more than envelopes.

Has anyone tried the look alikes - me too knives on the bay? They look like Spydies but there not.

In particular I am looking at one of the "Navy" versions. Heck for a couple of ten spots might be worth a try

compression lock
440 steel
and leaf like blade

Any thoughts?

if you are willing to spend a couple of "ten spots", either get something from byrd or a knife in the spyderco tenacious family.

p.s. there are other knife models made by reputable manufacturers that can be had for a couple of ten spots, but i won't discuss those here.
