North European Carpenters Axe

What a beauty! I love the necked down poll. You can definitely see the progression from pure chopper to something designed to pound pegs, pins and nails.

I know its not the same but it makes all my riggers hatchets look like scrap steel.

On an aside note, the winter scenery in your promo videos reminds me VERY much of my backdoors. I wonder how similar Maine is to Latvia?
I looked at some pictures and vids of Maine's winter. It looks very similar. In higher, hillier areas snow is used to be quite much. Usually first snow comes at the end of October and stays until the middle of an April.

Sounds just like Maine! :D:thumbup:

Jacob and John, the more I see your work the more I like it.

I just received my axe yesterday and all I can say is WOW! Forged to perfection. The elm wood handle and leather cover are also top notch. This is nicer than a few other high end axes I've owned. You'll love it if you want to get something from these guys. I'll try and post some pics later. Thanks John Neeman tools.

What's the story with John Neeman leaving Neeman Tools? I received three timber chisels with no makers mark and I have an axe on order(all from the original Neeman Tools). I'm getting dead silence from Neeman Tools(Jacob). Anyone have similar experiences? Thanks

So, John Neeman is no longer backing up the tools he forged for Neeman Tools??? What's to say the same thing won't happen with his new company? I, having been dealt with in a less than professional manner, will have to think twice before buying from Neeman again.

Well, I guess that tells it all. Hopefully the word gets out and people know that John Neeman Tools is not the real deal. I'll wait until Autine has been around awhile before ordering from them. I don't want to end up twice burned.

The response I received when I canceled my order today 2/6/2013.

"John Neeman has not left it as the John Neeman name is not a single person - it is a small crew of craftsmen. A guy named Jānis Nīmanis has left it. He was one of the bladesmiths in our crew and has decided to leave us and now he says the world that he is the ONE... Sad of course."

To much turmoil to leave my order in place for a tool that was going to cost me $300.00. I will wait for the dust to settle and then place my order. Plenty of good vintage axes in need of a little TLC and a good home.

Who knows what the full story is. Maybe we'll get lucky and have two quality custom tool makers going forward.

Hi. The axe is made by me (wood and leather) and by my friend blacksmith John Neeman. We will soon have a web page of all of our tools. Yes the axe is done by hand hammers, hand forged 100%, we do not use a pneumatic hammer.

Janis Nimanis...it sound like John Neeman to me but in Latvian.... More than Jacob Dimiters(jekabs dimiters)

I got an email from log that John Neeman is just a brand. Janis is the one who started the brand AUTINE. Regardless of all, the quality of tools will be there. Not everyone will stay peaceful or cool with others all the time . I'm more excited to know the newer products from John Neeman.

If you look at the video birth of a tool part one and two.you will see the bladesmith who supposed to be John Neeman. The same guy appear in the Autine webpage and on facebook. That chin cannot lie.

Plenty of hype involving these companies and the tools they make. Doesn't seem to me to be all on the up and up. Nothing sinister, mind you, but some caution seems to be in order. I'm going to wait awhile and see how it shakes out.

Definitely the same guy in the video & picture. Autine axes are made by John Neeman, the blacksmith in Birth of a Tool 1&2. John Neeman axes are made by an unknown person. I'll order from Autine.

The "Birth of a Tool" video made the operation seem so idyllic and peaceful. Didn't last very long I guess.
