Mike, if you're still around, why don't the Northfield single blade 48s have the same swedging that the two-bladers do? I realize that swedges are to make blades pass easier, but they look so good, why change?
Don't try and get me into Bill Howard's head; I'd spend the rest of my life sitting in a corner mumbling to myself....
The Northfield was going to be a saber grind as well, but guess that changed.
I do know that on every variant that is produced he locks himself in his office and calculates every morsel of material and time that goes into each knife when figuring the factory price. So if I were to guess, it would be that it saved some amount of time on each blade that could be withheld from the bottom line. But I would always give a little more for a nice blade swedge.
