One of my favorite knives is my Northwoods Mammoth Ivory Forest Jack, The only problem has been the legendary iron man back spring. Out of the box it was what I considered a hard 9a nail breaker. I worked with it for a few months and got it to a respectable 8. But it was still not an easy opening experience. So here is this beauty:

So I asked forum member Bob (BigBiscuit) if he could cut an Easy Open notch into this knife. WOW is all that I can say. Knife arrived today and its all I ever wanted. Because of the shape of the Wharncliffe tip it has a natural place to grip the blade. With the notch its turned this from and 8 to 4-5 pull for me. Well sure, its still an 8 but its now a pinch pull and not a nail breaker. Heres some photos from Bob:

And yes Ive been hunting down Mammoth handled knives of late. Maybe its because I am feeling as old as a fossil that attracts me. Heres a last photo with some of my Mammoth beauties.

A big thanks to Bob for his craftsmanship on this one.
