Northwoods Gunstock

I can say that these Northwoods are made well.

And who can argue with a free knife. (hint, people do..)

I am anxious to get mine, but i think i know about what to expect from Queen. I appreciate that you are trying to set the bar a bit higher for the Northwoods brand, and i think labeling them as seconds and offering them like this is very fair.

I just received my free Gunstock Jack with Amber Carved Stag Bone covers today. And for a free knife I really can't complain :).
The pivot could be a bit tighter (although there's no blade wobble) and it will need reprofiling (but it's made by Queen, so that was expected).
Can't wait to throw it in my pocket and try it out, I'm curious how the 154CM compares to the other steels.

(And wow: Shipped on Friday and received it overseas on Tuesday. The UPS guy just dropped it off at the door, no signature, no customs charges, I wonder if they just forgot :p).

This is one I'm really looking forward to. I'm always excited for a new Northwoods. I've been looking for a single blade gunstock, and the closed length is right in the sweet spot for me. Didn't spend the money to get the knife for free, so I happily paid for the knife. Derrick mentioned in the video that it's still a good knife, and I am a big fan of the IRJ and EDB, so I'm sure it'll go well in the pocket :)

I gave in and bought yet another sebenza just to get the free knife:) I got a stag one, and like it quite a bit. The covers are very nice, and the spring is nice and tight with about a 6-7 pull. What made mine a second was the fact the blade point stood proud and the centering was off. No matter, I reground the tip into a hybrid sheepsfoot looking shape and pocketed it! Nice heft and very solid feeling👍
Now...
Derrick, you get to explain to my wife why I spent 450$ a month before Christmas:)

Uh.... Not sure I can do that. :)

I waited till there were 9 of the white bones left before I got the nerve to pull the trigger. The size, single blade, and blade steel made me bite, plus the price. I'm also a sucker for white bone covers. I use all my knives, so minor F&F details are OK with me. I bought three knives of different brands to get over $300, and will likely sell all of them for just about what I paid, getting the Gunstock for a very reasonable price. I've never owned a GEC, so I ordered one GEC just to examine it and see what the hoopla is. Good way to check out knives I've never handled. Also got a canal Street and a Queen. Got my email notice today that it shipped yesterday, so hurry up and wait. I like the way that the announcement was made, advising ahead of time that it would come out at a specified time. Good work, and a good deal.

I love my EDB. The little quirks just make me like it more actually. Releases the "collector" in me to use it! I am going to order one of the few remaining gunstocks. Will post pictures when it arrives. :)

Mine arrived...

Gotta say I like it :)

It's put together really well. The fit is great! Probably the best fit of any Queen Northwoods I've received so far. Gorgeous bone, no gaps anywhere, pretty stiff pull. Blade came decently sharp.

I can see what makes it a second though. The pull cutout could be deeper, which makes it a little difficult to open. Comparison picture below with EDB.

Got mine today, and I'm very pleased with it! It's a very handsome knife and will definitely be getting a lot of pocket time. I guess i picked a good one, medium pull and the nick is cut plenty deep. The blade is centered and has no play. Best free knife i've ever gotten!
