Just got this in today. I've had this knife on my wish list for some time now and decided it was finally time pull the trigger.

I was surprised and pleased with the size and heft of this beauty. It's quite a bit bigger than my Charlow (comparison shot below). The size and curve handle feel really good in the hand. Fit and finish on this one are near spot on. The blade centers perfectly and there are no gaps that I can find. And that blue camel bone just begs to be caressed.

Overall a beautiful knife. Northwoods knocked it out of the park on this one.

Very handsome knife and a great choice. I have had one on my list in the Camel bone. Need to get a pocket slip to carry my traditionals, just got the courier pouch right now.

I also think Derrick knocked this one out of the park. If anyone is interested, there are some elephant ivory ones available right now for sale. I already have one of these and not prepared to acquire another one. It was a stretch the first time.

The blue camel bone versions are beautiful. I have a yellow bone Charlow barlow that is quite appealing and unusual for me. Bought it during a weak moment... :D

Thanks, guys.

Those elephant ivory versions are beautiful but a bit too much for me right now. My lovely bride and I have a trip across the big pond planned and I shouldn't be forking out money on knives but it was the last blue camel bone on Derrick's website. Not sure if he will be doing another run or not.

BTW, I forgot to mention that this came with it's own custom slip case. I showed it in the first pic but not to its best advantage. The top folds over and tucks into a slot. It also has the Northwoods logo. I'll try to get another pic of it later.

I believe Derrick shipped all of these with the leather slip. It is mostly for storage. I purchased another one without the tabs for using.

Yeah, the Northwoods is a nice sheath but it's hard to beat his standard Pocketslip. I've tried both the standard and universal versions. It's really hard to beat the standard. I now own two and will be getting a one or two more as I add knives.

Here's a stock pic of the Northwoods sheath from the KSF site.

Congrats and thanks for sharing with pictures.
Very handsome arrowhead bolster, nice touch.
How much does the Madison weigh in grams. Im guessing the 2 blade wood handled charlow weighs 72 grams.
Also of interest is Over All Length.
I would like a pic showing the Charlow in relation to the Madison, with the bareheads lined up, so that the combined handle and blade length difference is more obvious..

for example
IMG_0607.JPG

The Charlow is 6 1/8" OAL, handle is 3 3/8" and weighs 57 grams
The Peanut is 4 3/4" OAL, handle is 2 3/4" and weighs 35 grams
The Madison is 7 3/4" OAL, handle is 4.25" and weighs ...?

I have the knife in the similar bone covers. It's a solid knife that gets all the heavy work (my idea of heavy work is slicing pineapples). Very solid - a bit large for the pocket, so I purchased the large belt sheath from KSF.

I checked the weight on those and it's about what you would expect for their respective sizes. It was the overall length that surprised me.

Charlow (2 blade) = 82 grams = 2.90 oz, OAL = 6-1/8"
Madison (1 blade) = 101 grams = 3.55 oz, OAL = 7-5/8"

Here's a comparison shot with a GEC #72 and Charlow.

And a bonus shot.

Thanks for the specs and great pics. I weighed a bone handled single blade Charlow, 62 grams. The Madison is 25% longer, 63% heavier, and 95% more expensive (Ebony price before sale discount)…

Great looking blade with the long pull. I suspect the new version with crescent nick will have a softer pull to open since the nick is further towards the tip, more leverage.

Bought it during a weak moment...

no mate that was a moment of brilliant inspirational foresight.:p

I love that blue bone-vaaaairy nice.

That blue bone is really growing on me. The stock photos didn't do much for me but seeing this it really looks great. They definitely are big but who doesn't like a big solid slip joint?
