Northwoods Madison Barlow

I got my Madison Barlow in Cocobolo today. I wanted to get one because I like cocobolo and my brother has one of these and I wanted to check one out. The Cocobolo is lighter and more orange than I'm used to but very nice with interesting grain. It has a nice smooth 5 pull, with nice snap open. Snap closed could be a little stronger, but I hate blade rap (like I had on a 43) so it is good for making that less likely. I also haven't oiled it yet. It has great fit and finish with no gaps and perfect centering. An extremely well made knife, but for whatever reason I'm not sure I'm connecting with it.

Here's an overview video I made on my YouTube channel:

I've got lots of other videos on GEC and some Northwoods knives so check those out also.
Definitely NOT a 21 Bull buster frame. Shown here is a 74 Mustang, a Madison and a 21 Bull buster.
When I lay a 43 on top of the Madison it matches almost perfectly except the more pointy corner on the Madison. I will get a picture of those 2 and post it here.

Palm meet face!!! Jeez. I've had the Bullbuster a couple times but didn't have one on hand. What a mistake!!! I'll have to do another video. Thanks for pointing that out.

A 43 and a Madison Barlow. I took some measurements with calipers and there are slight differences; although they share the same length, the Madison is slightly slimmer towards the bolster as well as having thinner scales and the 43 has the point near the bottom end (near the blade tip when closed) more rounded off. Otherwise, they are dang close.

To my knowledge, the Madison is it's own pattern. I remember reading that Derrick purchased the dies to build the Madisons. If you look back at the build totals the Madison usually shows a 44. That's what I remember.

This had some pretty light colored wood but a good coating in some mineral oil really brought the color out. It’ll slightly fade in areas when carried for a bit so the color will have some cool transitions to it. Or so I’m hoping at least.

That's where that one got off to! I really like the unique coloring on that one. Congrats.
