Not enough love for the Gayle Bradley 2

Got my GB2 a week ago, fit and finish is impeccable, grinds are almost perfect, very symmetric, but I do have a slight recurve on the edge, had the choil been just a mm or two longer I think they would have been able to make the edge perfectly straight (and easier to sharpen on a benchstone). The lock isn't too bad for me, of course it's a long way from the ease of a axis lock for example, but still not bad. Apart from the (unintentional) recurve on the edge the only negative I have with the knife is how tight the clip is, or rather, the very small flare on the end of the tip, that makes it quite hard to insert over the pocket edge on my 5.11 pants. I have to use my fingers to bend out the clip to get it over the pocket edge.
But over all I like it a lot and looking forward to getting to know M4.

You're going to love M4.

I have bought 4 GB2's, and 3 of them all had the annoying accidental recurve. Wish they'd fix that.

Great thread the GB2 is amazing for sure I would like a compression lock but can live without it love the hollow grind such a great cutter

Does anyone actually like the GB2 lock?

I love my GB2, but out of my 60+ knives, it has by far my least favourite lock.

I modified mine within a few days of having the knife, now it is one of my favorites. Easy mod to make a little access on the presentation side scale and liner. About 1/16" makes ALL the difference. (Sorry Sal and Mr. Bradley)

Latest add is a deep pocket clip. Thanks Casinostocks Casinostocks

Color matches the blue/gray patina that is forming. This knife is at the top of my all time favorite EDC list!

I remember you posting a while ago about mod'ing the GB2. The longer Casey Lynch clip look more owes on your GB2 than would've looked on my Lum-Tanto. Great choice

Picked up a GB2 this week, M4 for under $150 bucks! Nice and slim and well put together. Lock is ok, but it works, and at under a buck fiddy I can live with it.

I bought a GB2 because of posts like this... I was quite disappointed in this knife. The tip was so close to the end of the handle that I cut my thumb running it past the handle while it was in my pocket. Plus there were visible burrs on the spyderhole that made it sharp, and I found that the proud liners didn't feel good in hand. Loved the aesthetics, but it had to go after that.

Acidic fruits, Bloody meats and everything in between has given the blade this patina.

Not forced at all? I’ve never gotten a natural patina all the way up to the pivot area.

Looks good either way.

I love it. The knife is meant to be a mean cutter, and it does that very well. The lock doesn’t need to be some super tough brute that withstands splitting logs.

If you’re using your knife as an actual knife, it will do just fine. I think it’s a great liner lock with just about perfect tension.

I had my GB2 out over the weekend while I was cleaning a pistol. I noticed the blade on the GB2 had some gunk and tape residue, so I used a patch with Hoppes 9 to wipe off the blade...

Now the nice patina I had going is nearly gone as well. Just a few hints of some spots left, but not much. It didn't occur to me that the Hoppes would do that until it was too late.

Still love it though.

Wash the blade off with dawn dish soap, dry it off with a paper towel and let it sit for a while.

Betcha 10 bucks a good bit of the patina will come back. Give it a shot.

I like that uniform patina (blue/grey) that you're showing SpydeHole. Got a M4 PM2 coming and I'm debating about patina or not. On my Maxamet Para3 I've decided to not let it patina due to the really nice satin blade finish.

Out of 72 knives 2 that are on my top ten list are the Domino & GB2. I had the thumb choil enlarged to make it easy to flick and close. After the mod was done it became one of the most perfect knives for EDC. It was made to be used.
If I had a serious day of work and I needed to have a knife for a lot of cutting and my choices were the PM2 or GB2 it is the GB2 hands down

Beautiful knife! The only reason I don't carry mine more often is I used a pointy tip a lot, so Mili or PM2 get the call. But I still love the GBs.
