Not impressed with G10

I guess I'm one of the few that actually prefer Benchmade's G-10 over Spyderco's.

The Spyderco's are much rougher than is necessary and they wear out my pockets rather quickly too.

Remember, grip security comes from the handle design itself, not the roughness of the scales.

I agree with allen on this one. My paramilitary feels a little to rough. My BM g10 knives feel smooth, but not slippery. I have never had a problem with any BM g10 knives slipping, the only knife that came close to feeling slippery was the old Buck odysee 186. John

So I finally went down to the local sporting goods store and got to handle a knife with a G10 handle. It was a BM 710

Wasn't all that impressed. I know it's got great physical properties like being chemically resistant and won't transfer heat but I'm just talking it's feel.

I read people on here saying they didn't like FRN or a Griptilian cause of the cheap feeling handles. Because of this I was expecting G10 to feel a lot more "luxurious" i suppose. Felt a little better then my endura and ritter grip but not all that much.

I still have a 710 on my wishlist cause of the axis lock and nice blade design but I feel like i'm in a lot less of a hurry to get one (in fact i used the money i had saved for one to buy boxing equipment) now that I finally handled G10 which up until yesterday was a big mystery to me.

I guess if you overhype just about anything in your head you're bound to be dissapointed.

How is it overhyped? Everyone says that its a Hard, grippy surface that is very whare resistant. It IS all of those things.

It's was overhyped by myself. How something feels is tough to convey with words and I personally thought it would feel better then it actually did. I'm not saying it felt like crap or anything...just didn't live up to my inflated expectations.
