Not impressed with the quality of my new ZT 0560

This knife is covered with flaws that shouldn't exist on a knife at this price point. When I first received the knife I immediately thought that it might be a fake. But after reading online I saw that these small flaws are common in lots 0560s. Most of these issues don't effect the functionality of the knife in any way but I still like to see my moneys worth in a knife.

I have come to expect higher levels of quality when I spend more on a knife. When I bought a Sebenza I could immediately see why it was so expensive.

I called ZT and was told to send my knife back for a replacement which is super awesome. Hopefully the next is better.

The pictures are not super great but you can see the problems.

Problem #1 - The grind on this blade is so uneven that the edge literally curves!

Problem #2 - Handle scale doesn't match liner

Problem #3 - Extremely uneven and chewed up looking edge to the 3D machined titanium scale

More uneven machining

Problem #4 - Deep casting lines in the flipper. Looks like cracks.

Problem #5 - ZT symbol on clip looks worn off and faded.

Problem #6 - This is the big one. There is tons of lock bar flex on this knife. Sorry I can't show in a picture.

So, you got a lemon and ZT offered to replace the knife. Problem fixed.

Agreed. The OP could have merely posted "I bought a new 0560 and I wasn't happy. I called ZT and they told me they will replace it."

But no, we had to see twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against them.

...apologies to Arlo Guthrie...

Haha whoa chill out guys. I just thought some members would find this interesting. Im not sure exactly how common these problems are. Has anyone seen a grind like this on a ZT before?

Wowsers, that one looks rough.

Good on ZT's customer service to take care of you.

Good pictures btw.

Perhaps, but in your presentation, you made it seem like a big bad deal. You can call the glass half-full or half-empty, but there are ways of making things interesting that don't come off as a bash.

Im not sure exactly how common these problems are.

Really? You said:

Again, the old "if it isn't true they can't put it on the internet" logic.

Uhhhh...Bon Jour.

Thanks for the pictures. It is nice to see what IS NOT normal. Good on ZT for making it right!

I gotta say it looks like you got a lemon...and there is lemons in every brand. Good on Kai CS to get the problem fixed. I never had to use them, but its good to know that they back up there products! What more can you ask for?

Did you buy it as new from a dealer?

Definitely cool ZT is taking care of it.

Sorry, I should have clarified. From what I'v read the uneven edges on the 3D machine, and the marks on the flipper are quite common. The other issues Im not sure of. Are the first two I mentioned not common?

Wow man. Hopefully you just got a bad one and your replacement will be fine. FWIW, I just got both a brand new 0550 and 0560 shipped to me this week and neither of those knives have any of the flaws you pointed out in your first post. FF on both of my new ZTs is excellent. Smooth actions and rock solid lookups. These are my first two ZTs that I've ever owned and they won't be my last. Sorry your experience wasn't as good. I'm sure they'll get you straight.

I don't know. Mine were 100% out of the box, so I didn't go digging further trying to find the flaws that weren't there.

c93 sorry about your issues, it sounds as if you have contacted the factory vs your dealer, and the problem is being taken care of.

As to the commonality of the issues you experienced, I think you should put a little perspective into the amount of knives that are on the street vs, the amount of problems that are actually being experienced. By the sound of your post, you'd be surprised at the overall satisfaction, but the warranty work has a tendency to macro's and shouted out, kinda like here, we understand.

Again sorry for the issues you're experiencing.

Thanks for the pictures. I often read someone talking about poor fit and finish of this knife or that, but your pics show the problems exactly.

What's scary, though, is that these flaws aren't related. There are grind and grips and clip, all with problems. Hard to imagine a single knife with all these different issues, unless someone had several bad knives and put all the bad parts on a single knife and then returned it.

I didnt go looking for flaws. I noticed them right out of the box. Sorry, I didn't realize it's that time of the month.

A knife and it's history are not always revealed in these types of threads. Sometimes they are relevant, sometimes not. The amount of horse trading that goes on within the knife enthusiasts can bring on knives that are/have been taken apart, frankensteined, modded, etc..,YMMV when receiving such a knife.
