Not impressed with the quality of my new ZT 0560

A knife and it's history are not always revealed in these types of threads. Sometimes they are relevant, sometimes not. The amount of horse trading that goes on within the knife enthusiasts can bring on knives that are/have been taken apart, frankensteined, modded, etc..,YMMV when receiving such a knife.
This is why I asked. Several people across bladeforums have had the issue of Amazon sending out knives that were clearly used or had issues. I have read of several cases on the Spyderco forum.

Sorry, I didn't realize it's that time of the month.
Connor, I'm going to stop you right here. There is no tolerance for these types of comments here in this sub-forum. Members and Mods can, and will on occasion question and even challenge others if they feel it necessary. How you respond is important. Please look at the sub-forum rules. You will read the no non-sense policy we have. Your above comments will only fuel exactly what we look to avoid here.

Let's all cool down now, it's Independence Day already!!!

The 3rd party partnership program at Amazon has brought on a few complaints at Kai as well. It's important you know you're buying from Authorized dealers when purchasing new. The legit internet dealers that the majority buy from here on BF's sell at prices low enough that it should keep you from looking elsewhere. Saving a buck or two is not always worth it.

I've always found that times like these, on days like today...Well a solid mortar or two goes a long way. Can't wait for the sun to go down. :D

Agreed. Buying from an authorized dealer, even for a little more, is worth the extra money for peace of mind.

Have a happy fourth mystery KAI worker :D.

I'm glad my first 560 didn't come that way because it is one of my all time favorite knives! I just love everything about it. I have 3 of them and already have the 566 and the 560 bw version on preorder!

My 0561 (bought LNIB here on the exchange) had a pretty uneven edge, the machining marks on the edges of the Ti, the casting marks on the flipper, and the uneven scale/liner match-up.

I reprofiled the blade and I was under the impression that the liner/scale mismatch was on purpose since the thumb stud contact the liner as the blade-stop.

The machine and casting marks don't really bother me since the knife is probably one of the best looking/functioning production folders ever made.

I'll likely never sell mine.

Like Dave. Although, his prices are already low as it is. That's a win/win situation right there.

Just so you know.. The one liner extends past the g10 so the thumbstuds (also the blade stop) can land on the stronger surface of the ti as opposed to the g10, and the 'chewed up' ti is like that on literally every single 0560 as it is the 3d machining extending to the bevel. Of course I may be wrong and I most certainly welcome correction from Kai Corp.

I received my 560 yesterday. I thought it was a great a knife. Found this thread, looked my knife over and found several of the same "flaws" as the author listed, minus the grind, the faded clip logo, and the bar play. The others that the author of this thread and my knife share seem, to me, more design/production results, than real problems. The other issues that the author had will no doubt be corrected by the fine people at KAI. I am head over heels for my 560 and personally wouldn't change a thing about it ;).

I honestly don't get the issues pointed out by the OP. None of it would bother me in the least except *maybe* the lock bar flex (as I'm unsure as to what that means exactly). I don't see this as being a wrongfully created thread in the least. However I really don't think anything somebody writes based on THEIR OPINION is worth getting riled up about. Keep it civil and unpretentious and all shall be right with the forum world.

I have a 561 (SN 67xx), and the scale matches the liner. I can't see any of the other "flaws" except for the edge of the titanium slab. That's to be expected when a textured pattern meets a curved edge. Fit and finish on mine is excellent. FWIW, I bought it through Amazon. I don't remember if it came from the warehouse, or through a dealer. I have bought 5 ZT's from Amazon, and all were perfect.

After re-examining the knife I realize I might have been expecting a bit to much from ZT. Most of the flaws that stood out when I first opened the knife don't really bother me anymore. My expectations were probably a little to high for this knife but I still love it.

However, due to the grind and the lock bar flex I will still be sending it back.

Lock bar flex is when you put pressure on the spine of the blade and the lock bar flexes allowing the blade to move vertically.

Jeez folks, ease up on the OP. He started a very interesting thread, it looks like he has some legitimate issues, and he provided details and decent pics.

Don't shoot the messenger, or Kai. Why can't we have a polite, meaningful discussion about quality control?

This!

Agreed. The OP could have merely posted "I bought a new 0560 and I wasn't happy. I called ZT and they told me they will replace it."

But no, we had to see twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against them.

...apologies to Arlo Guthrie...

I thank you for quoting Arlo... made my night/morning

thanks sir for the thead ur get use to the rest.....it is what it is lol
