not normal?

15 here, and I carry my Benchmade Griptilian or Victorinox Soldier depending on where I'm going. Sometimes I don't carry at all just to be safe if I might go somewhere non knife-friendly. You have to be smart about where you bring it and you should be fine.

I used to carry SAKS to school every day from Kindergarten to fourth grade until I found out it was a no-no :D

I'm not busting your chops. I know exactly what you mean. It is just horrible that not carrying around an implement so useful in so many situations is now considered "being safe."

thats right on. soo many people try to live exactly p.c. and have no mnd of thier own. these days everyone is trying to be soo acceptive and nice about everything. soon you cant do anything w/o not being p.c.

i find that hard to believe. where do you live?

He's in NY State, where utility knives are OK, but the media have their own rules, their own mind-games, that they are trying to force on all of us.

The problem isn't the law, it's the exceptions. You can carry a knife, you can carry a big knife, but you can't carry it in here, and you can't carry it in there, and if you take it out, we'll wince and whimper and try to make you feel wrong. So you end up leaving the knife at home and not having it when you do need .. one of those things .. that they don't talk about ..

But we do, and we should carry them.

We had a great NJKCA meeting today. Lots of new faces, Beautiful knives.

I remember a phrase someone used years ago that describes them -- they suffer from a general fearosis of living. :p

I carried a knife of some sort everyday in high school from 82-86.Never no problems of any kind, teachers would ask in class who had a knife if they needed one, usually 7or 8 would be offered up.We used to trade knives at school w/some of the teachers,no problems then,no stabings,no threats,no murders.Nowadays i work in a federal building, and i still carry a knife and leatherman everyday to work. When i first started,my supervisor told me no knives of any kind were allowed.I showed her the federal law that said up tp 2.5 inch blade was allowed, she shut up about it,and im still carrying 6 yrs later.Guess who they come to everytime they need a pliers,or somehing cut....yup,me.Supervisor thinks the leatherman is cool beans now and has asked about getting her own.Just goes to show,if you let the sheeps see you doing the things knives were intended to do day in and day out their narrow little minds can absorb it and change....sometimes.
