Not quite a Sebenza

So I really want a Sebenza, but I don't think I'm ready to fork out that much money at this time. Anyone suggest a cheaper alternative? I was thinking a Buck Vantage pro s30v. It has a similar look as the Sebenza, and has the high quality steel.

Any other suggestions?

Honestly there is just no substitute. My advise is get it over with and get a Sebenza!

Protech Integrity. It's a Ti framelock version of the TR3. I have one and it is outstanding. I would put it against a Sebenza any day. It actually feels much better in the hand to me than a Sebenza. It actually proved to me that I don't need a Sebenza.

Spyderco Sage 2.

It took me 20 years to pull the trigger on a Sebenza and I still couldn't bring myself to spend the money, luckily I was able to trade my Swamp Rat Chopweiler for one, more after carrying mine for 6 months, I can't imagine why I didn't buy one 20 years ago.

Spend the money out trade up to one, you won't be disappointed.

Sebenza, there is no substitution...

I think I'm coming around... I have about $200 in mad money right now. Shouldn't take me too long to get to the $450 range. I'm so impatient sometimes. I want a new knife now, but I really should save for the Sebenza.

Bradley Alias... I have two and just recently got a small sebenza. They aren't quite as nice but close. I will probably be selling them soon to get a large sebenza.

How much you're willing to spend will get you better answers.

A Sebenza is somewhat singular in S35VN now.

There's a reason CRK continuously wins Blade Show manufacturing quality awards.

Someone else mentioned Protech TR-3 Manual Integrity Frame-Lock folder in S35VN and it's an excellent alternative (not substitute) at quite a savings.

No one really 'needs' a Sebenza, just as no one really 'needs' a Lamborgdini... I don't regret buying my 21 for a milisecond... (still waiting on the Lambordinbi, tho').

If you have $200, you are not that far from a nice used small on the exchange. They usually go for the $300 flat range. I would save a little more and pick one up. If you don't like it you can always sell it for minimal loss.

After only a few months into the knife hobby, I've realized that if you want something, save up and get it. Haha, I "settled" for lower alternatives a few times instead of getting the knife I really wanted... All it led to was a bunch of time wasted trading upwards until I finally got it...

So get one! :)

The 'benza is more than a knife, that being said compairing it to a knife that is just a knife isn't fair to that knife...

There's always the Boker Epicenter on the low end or any of the various Lionsteel framelocks in the midrange.

Isn't there a saying that goes something like, The pain of low quality will live on long after the pain of high expense has passed.

Or the bitter taste of poor quality will live on far after the sweetness of a cheap price has passed. One of my dad's favorite sayings, usually in reference to tools!

Is this your default response to all Sebenza-related threads?
