Not quite a Sebenza

AG Russel Acies, 1 or 2.
All the quality of a Seb plus a Hinderer lock bar stabilizer and a ZDP-189 blade.

Find a second run Böker Epicenter. Full titanium scales and VG-10 blade. Awesome knife and you can find find one for about $100

I'm going to echo those recommending the Protech Integrity. It's a great Ti framelock, similar in size to a Sebenza. I own both and use my Integrity a lot more often, it just feels better in my hand and the blade suits me better (and seems to hold a better edge).

I own a classic Lrg micarta Sebenza, Lrg micarta 21 Insingo and a new pivot Umnumzaan. I got rid of all my other one hand openers except for two balis, a Ritter Grip and a 710. I had some really nice one hand openers but they could not compare to the Sebenza. Save for a plain lg if you want one for a work knife, a sm plain if you want one for dress.

I've had the Buck Vantage pro for about 3 years now. Very underrated knife. The steel is heattreated by Paul Bos (or his company) and keeps an edge very well. The handle is very comfortable and the pocket clip doesn't get in the way. Overall one of my favorite knives.

I say save up and get the knife you truly want or you'll always be wondering. If you don't like the Sebby you shouldn't have much of a problem selling or trading it on the exchange. I never wanted to believe the hype but after carrying one for a while I'm hooked. Chris sets standards as far as machining goes in the knife world. Some of his tolerances are tighter than in the aerospace industry. Have fun and explore your options. Cheers.

The Sage 2 is a nice knife and the 4 keeps catching my eye as an attractive folder.

That's good to know about the Buck Vantage. It's certainly on my wish list. I like the buck warranty as well.

Every item is subject to value. And value is subject to cost. It's up to you to determine whether the cost justifies what the item provides (function, quality, aesthetics, brand name, etc). Many find that sebenzas justify their cost, and many do not.

To me, sebenzas are a bit overrated. However, I think umnumzaans are fantastic.

Since you're at this juncture, I suggest getting one. Because otherwise, you'll always wonder about it. Once you have it, you can keep it or sell/trade it. CR knives hold their value pretty well.

I've had a Vantage Pro for 7 years now. Amazing knife.

I have the Buck Vantage 340 Select for a year and no problems. It's not a flashy super quick flipper, but as an edc I like to carry it and it cuts well.
I have no problem flipping it with the side notch, but do you use the hole or the side notch to flip?

The Vantage Pro isn't super slim, but its not overly huge so its a pretty good edc. Its not like a douk douk in terms of thinness but it fits pretty nicely in a pocket. Plus the pocket clip is fairly deep so none of the knife is sticking out, just in case you don't like showing off the fact you have a knife.

So I really want a Sebenza, but I don't think I'm ready to fork out that much money at this time. Anyone suggest a cheaper alternative? I was thinking a Buck Vantage pro s30v. It has a similar look as the Sebenza, and has the high quality steel.

Any other suggestions?

Friend, if you really want a Sebenza, then the best advice I can give you is to save up until you can afford one. You will not be disappointed. Cheaper alternatives? There are several, but none quite like a Sebenza.
