Bought some of this wondrous snake oil to try out and so far so good....
except one thing....
Does anyone else have these not so nano metal particles floating around in the tube?
Sorry for the bad picture but to further describe it, it looks like the aluminum equivalent to the gold leaf floating around in Goldschlager liqueur.
???????????

(2018..pictures being repaired due to photobucket ransom)

Wow.. and No. There is nothing discernable in my Nano-oil tube. I would be contacting St.Claire immediately.

Just checked mine using a flashlight & magnifying glass. No particles of any sort. You should definitely make a phone call ASAP.

P.S. I love the stuff. It works fantastic on bearings and washers alike.

Thanks for checking guys!
I just sent them an email with the picture.
I'm guessing its a manufacturing error in which the needle is forced into the aluminum screw before crimping and the plastic tubes are not cleaned before the product is put into them.

I received a response from St.Claire, it reads.....

“Hello Brandoak
Even though I never saw that,* it can only come from the screw of the needle assembly and could never make it back out of the tube through the needle?
Thanks for letting me know
Have a great weekend.
Best Regards, Christian StClaire 707 235-4029 StClaireUSA@gmail.com www.Nano-Oil.com”

Have never seen anything like that in any of mine, even though they say it could never make it back out of the needle I'm the type that it would always bother me having it in there

I agree. A replacement would have been a nice gesture.

I remember this thread but had to Google search to locate it since it had moved from General Discussions.

I just checked two viles of Nano-Oil Weight 10 and one vile of Nano-Oil Weight 85. Absolutely no issues with any residues in the vile.

All I can think of is perhaps such debris got sucked in through the syringe if not manufacturing defect.

Thanks for checking RamZar! "Moved from general Discussions" hmmmmm Dose this seem to happen allot here when certain name brands are questioned? Ive read a few post in other forums stating so.....puts on tin foil hat..

This would probably be a tinkering and maintenance question since its about oil not knives.

Mine too, is clear and without particles of any sort. Given the relatively sensitive nature of where one would apply their product, seeing those 'floaties' wouldn't inspire much confidence. Especially as a first impression. I agree that they should have sent you another vial-pen and told you to toss your current one in the trash. I'd say that's a customer service fail.

There is no mention of a return policy on their web site. Interesting that they did not offer to make it right considering the bad press they could get. I've never had a big interest in the product. But if I paid that much dough of a highly touted product and there was junk / stuff in the container I'd be pretty hot about it. "Oh thats interesting thanks for letting me know" isn't a response I would accept.

I agree that this is not the way for this to have been handled... Nano Oil is promoted as a "super-premium" product, and when presented with outright evidence of contaminated product, their response is pretty much *shrug*...??

I'll definitely recall this before I purchase another bottle.

Guys, I just ordered a tube of the 10w Friday Aug. 4th, most likely came from the same lot. I will let you know if I have any particles upon receipt!

The order was placed around 6-7 pm and Christian sent me a nice note saying the order had shipped and was his last for the holiday weekend, that's pretty good customer service if you ask me, he didn't have to do that! I bet if you brought the issue to his attention again, he would make it right, especially if he knew about this thread! CAD

I ordered mine on August 28th (a rough batch estimate)
My email to them did not contain any harsh/choice words of disappointment nor did I ask for a replacement or return. I sent them the picture and a brief description and a “ Thought you would want to know”. I figured Id just put the ball in there court....
Maybe as a customer I didn't come off to disturbed or angry?
The aluminum flakes settle down to the bottom of the tube and will probably not cause me a problem in lubing knives, but as mentioned before, this is suppose to be a premium grade and costly product, I can only imagine that people using it for very precise watch repair, tiny gear applications ect would be turned off from this product with such findings and a nonchalant attitude toward customer service.

So you were concerned enough to post about the issue here. Sent them an email about it. But not concerned about it enough to ask for a replacement?

If you don't mind me asking, why this product (i don't get it)?
I looked at the website, but its mainly advertising... is that why you're trying it?
Just curious as I'm at the dollar store stage of sharp stuff :)

I went to use my only oil with a needle applicator and realized it was almost 15 years old and was starting to get a bit chunky. I decided to search and see what others have been using for there knives and heard this product was the bees knees and figured Id give it a go. Im also going to try mineral oil for this is also a growing trend w/positive results I wasn't aware of. Maybe if I clean out my old needle applicator pen I can reuse it for the mineral oil....
