Sounds like there was just a misunderstanding rather than a reluctance to replace it, I don't think this thread in its entirety reflects poorly on StClaire.

Well I guess its time to conclude this post and move on.
Mr. Christian StClaire is now checking tubes for debris before shipping and he seems to be a good guy overall. I admit I may have had problems in reading or decoding his emails due to a language barrier of sorts but Im pretty sure we got everything figured out in the long-run.

When receiving a defective product I'm pretty docile and usually chalk it up as a lesson learned, but in this case chose to adapt the overall sentiment I was getting from those of you who chimed in and I followed through.

It was never in my interest to discredit or shame the product.
To be accused of “setting them up to justify giving them negative feedback” ...come on really?

Ill think twice before posting a problem or concern again here on bladeforums.

Have a pleasant day.

There are people who hate just to hate. I'm grateful you posted this. I was just thinking about trying some but now I won't, not because the product is claimed to be good or bad, but simply because I have stuff that already works for me and my uses and to spend 40 bucks for an ounce of oil and possibly get snubbed by a dude because of a language barrier doesn't sound like a good time. People's experiences are why I come here and I try to give my experiences as well trying to help others. If a company has a pretty good to great reputation you will get crapped on when you post something that might show something bad. They'll move your thread showing some concerns to a low visibility section while they'll leave another equal but opposite thread in a high visibility section. It is what it is. Thank you for sharing.

PS, it really does sound like the guy was copping a major attitude, even when he reluctantly sent you a replacement. I'd adjust the amazon feedback to let people know that he did, in fact, send a replacement but I'd also let people know that it did, in fact, take a negative review to get it done and have him take you seriously. That's helpful info for most people.

Thank you Bodog, I appreciate that.
It was difficult in discerning the emails I received like his decision to include a
“1x super bright LED Pen” in my replacement tube of (as he called it) ...“infamous Aluminium Laced Nano-Oil, “

It was easy to take this as “here is your replacement oil and a led light to inspect it with you nit-picky “.......... .!”

I've had more of a chance to use the oil now and can honestly say I cant tell a difference in it and other similar weighted oils. I payed $ 17 dollars for 0.2705 of an ounce or 8cc's.
in one of his most recent emails he said he was also considering sending me a 10x magnifying glass...........maybe he's just a funny guy

That's kind of how it read to me, too. Had he left the word infamous out of it it would've seemed a little different.

Or maybe something like "sorry for the bottle you you received with a bunch of crap floating in it. That's not up to my standards. In addition to the new tube, I also included an LED light to thoroughly check the new stuff. If you see anything let me know and I'll make it right. Feel free to keep the flashlight. Sorry that you had to deal with me right after surgery when I wasn't at my best. I'd like for you to reconsider your negative review but if you don't, I understand, I only want the best for my customers and I didn't provide it the first time around for you."

Would've been a whole different story.

Well there are some who like to take random isolated incidents and then blanket boycott everything from them based on it. So Im not exactly surprised by your response. I honestly dont understand the notion that perfection is something that can be achieved.

I guess you missed the entire thread and how it progressed and ended.

I've been happy with the Nano-Oil products. Seems to perform better than anything else I've tried. However, I have no empirical data. A noted firearms instructor I know uses Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil successfully in all his firearms (I think it was 10W30 but it could've been 10W40 or 20W50).

Some of St. Claire's responses are downright callous and unprofessional. If it's an attempt at humor then I say don't do it! I'm glad he's making it right but he could do without the sarcastic remarks.

I had a similar bad experience on a knife purchase through Amazon. The third-party retailer sent the completely wrong product and took two days to respond when I filed a complaint. So, quite rightly, I wrote a negative feedback. Eventually, he sent a return label and upon receipt sent me a refund. Then, he corrected the knife entry and gave a generous discount. I purchased the correct product and wrote a positive feedback. In time he asked that I delete the original negative feedback which I refused.

No i caught the whole thing. But as usual I just dont agree with you. And i stand by all my comments made in this thread.

Is there a reason you keep posting? So you'll buy or continue to buy or at least consider buying a product from a guy who responds in the manner he did. That's cool. You made it clear. Why are you still trying to hammer home how everyone else should ignore the OP? The OP had a valid concern with the original product and an even more valid concern with how the manufacturer responded. If you don't care, then move on. Stop stinking up every thread you show up in and go back to W&C.

I'm glad the OP received a decent tube and I'm glad he let people know how the owner of that company deals with customers who receive a less than good example.

I don't really care for the OP or his opinions or for bodogs opinions either but the responses from st.claire are unprofessional and rude. I wont purchase his product just based on his rude service.

Yes there is a reason Bodog. You asked a question and I supplied an answer. Aside from that Im not even going to entertain your crap yet again. You do this every time we disagree. You asked If I read the thread and the outcome. I said I did and that I stand by my statements. If you want to know the details as to why use your eyes and search skills and read. I dont need to lay it out for you. And since discussing each other is against the rules I am not going to take your bait. I would say you and him are in good company and that is all I will say about it. I dont believe in taking one single instance of an issue and boycotting a company that makes a decent product. There are always more than one side to a story and I have my reasons for why I feel that this particular story is less than forthcoming. I think it is reckless and negligent to read one story from anyone and pass judgement. And since this is the first I have ever heard of an issue with this company and due to other information that doesnt need to be dragged through this thread I will only say I remain skeptical and for good reason. I guess that probably makes me an oil fanboy.

Your accusations, insults, sarcasm, and needless arguing may be welcome in certain areas, but they're supposed to stay confined in that area. Please leave them there.

PURPLEDC and bodog try using the ignore option rather than interact with each other.

Just read this whole thread. Based on all the replies by Mr.St Claire, no nano oil for me, even if it the best thing out there.

Thanks for checking RamZar! "Moved from general Discussions" hmmmmm Dose this seem to happen allot here when certain name brands are questioned? Ive read a few post in other forums stating so.....puts on tin foil hat..

You can put away the tinfoil.

"Sharpening" and "lubrication" are maintenance topics. Threads which belong in Maintenance, but which are posted in General Forum, are normally moved to the Maintenance forum. The General Forum is for questions about knives. A link was left when the thread was moved. The link normally lasts 24 hours before disappearing.
