Hi all I just got an email from a Rick (Richard) Sherwood wishing to purchase a knife. Here is a copy of the email. I sent a reply but it was returned stating message rejected by recipient domain mailbox not found. This has me wondering what the heck is this a real customer or a scam any help would be grateful.

This is an enquiry e-mail via http://turnerknives.com from:
Rick Sherwood <sherwoodrichard@aol.com>

Hi,
I am a knife collector from the UK.I would like to know if you could make a drop point hunter knife for me exactly like the one you show on you web page, also what would be the delivery time be.
Thanks.

Regards,

I don't see why he would want to scam you. If you decide to make that knife for him, and he backs out at the end, he never gains anything from that.
If you can contact him, just ask him what he specifically wants, and do it.

Have you tried just e-mailing him rather than replying to the e-mail he sent ?

My Dads work e-mail bounces all replies but if I just e-mail him using the same address it works fine.

over in the makers forum Don Hanson started a thread on emails that several of us have recived supposedly either from the UK or Denamark

It seems like my comcast account does not like AOL.
I have had many emails to AOL accounts bounce.

Thanks for the replies,

eygen, My question is this a real customer or did some hacker steal this guys email address and is posing as a customer. I am not saying he is a bad guy I don't know why I am asking if anyone has heard of him, as I have no way of contacting him because all attempts to contact him bounce back. Here is what the returned mail states,

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

sherwoodrichard@aol.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 MAILBOX NOT FOUND (state 14).

Haze and U812, I replied from the inquiry and after posting this last night I wondered maybe it was a problem with replying to the inquiry so I typed the email address in copy and pasted my original reply and hit send from the same email I received the inquiry. I also tried from 2 different emails all came back the same. So I have tried manually typing in his email on My websites email which is @turnerknives.com, @gmail.com and my wife's @mac.com all bounced back.

Argel55, Thanks I will go find that thread.

Just another note I would have done an inquiry on BB but it has been down for a week and if this is a real customer I would not want him mad at me for not replying to his email. Thanks for the help.

On another note, he doesn't sound like he's from the UK (originally I mean)

His statement of
" like the one you show on you web page "

" what would be the deliver time be "

He is having difficultly with the English language or he's 10. :D

It may be nothing, I don't know.

I have seen English speakers do that, text generation maybe?
The ones I love is the guys that call knives..knifes.

Mike, since you have a form for email responses, it's possible he missed the exact spelling. it may have been sherwoodrichard1@aol.com or sherwood.richard@aol.com or sherwood_richard@aol.com. Who knows.

Someone could send you a note from JoeBlow@scammer.com and it would send to you. Like the others pointed out, the spelling is poor. I say someone was barely interested, and as a whim chased you a note. Hardly taking the time to punctuate/edit correctly or spell their own name right.

Pass.

Coop

Thats all you can do. Its not your fault you can't get in touch with him.
I know if I was really interested in having a maker do a knife for me, and didn't get a response, I would certainly try again to make contact.
