Not using what I carry and not carrying what I use - New level of the sickness.

Overall I got no problem with you doing whatever pleases you with what is YOUR property. Like what was said earlier "You do you".

HOWEVER
There is one exception. If I'm the friend sitting next to you in the car when you pull that crap? There is a very good chance that you would get punched....... Hard.

LOL! I would just give him my Steel Warrior to use and smile.;)

Thanks for all the suggestions, too many to respond to individually.
Can you respond to this one:
Had a relatively elementary piercing task to accomplish and chose to drive home 5km to get my $10 Chinese no name knife to perform the task cos I didn't want any marks getting on my overbuilt, supersteel thick stock, super lock near $200 folder.
What knife did you not want to mark up?

Warned for insulting and rude behavior

Dude in the car said, you for real? We drove 5k to get a knife, what's wrong with the three in your pockets or the one in your pants?

I'm like fuck that not using my knives for that, you crazy?

And this right here, perfectly illustrates, why I rarely spend any of my valuable time here in this sub-forum. Your extreme lack of intelligence, is glaring.

What have I become?

I vote for "use it if you carry it", leave it in the cabinet at home if its too expensive to comfortably use. That said if you just want to keep your main blade in better condition, carry a cheap smaller blade, something that you won't be afraid to use and occasionally abuse.

User Options, $20 to $50 ish.
CRKT Drifter or other small model,
Ontario Rat 2
Small Byrd or Spyderco
Kershaw, like 90% of their lineup is budget beaters.
SAK, Cadet, Tinker, or similar
Inexpensive traditional, lots of options.

Another option would be a light duty multitool, Leatherman Wingman or a Gerber Suspension.

Some really classy people here

Anyway,

I always carry a modern folder clipped right front pocket. If I'm afraid to use it, generally that means it's the wrong tool for the job. Therefore I carry a Vic Super Tinker in my med bag and a SOG powerassist in my car.

That being said, I generally carry lightweight, medium to light use knives, and rarely find I need anything more.

If I was that scared to schratch my new EDC knife... I'd rather send it skipping over some rocks or corncrete or I'd use sandpaper top schratch it's blade surface on purpose just so I can get over it and enjoy my knife...

I was going to recommend skipping it across a parking lot. Lol. The first scratch is the hardest one. But it brings a sense of relief too. Now you can use and scratch it and enjoy it.

That would be a shame to do intentionally. Just use the knife or leave it at home. If it makes you feel better, keep a lower cost knife as a second.... five knives is kind of ridiculous in my opinion but everyone does what they like. If a person wants to carry all that hardware, go for it.

Instagram is for people like you, who take pictures of mint knives by man jewelry pieces in immaculate expensive bandanas with the tag EDC.
You can also buy an Opinel or a SAK and hide it in your pocket along your prized toys, if you are not too ashamed to pull it out and actually use such a commoner's tool.

You could have simply said nothing and went on your way.

I just want to know what kind of industrial belt or suspenders this mofo wears that keeps his pants up with 4 knives in his pockets

Who, me? I wear a double thick Bison belt from Coronado Leather that is made for supporting a firearm and stuff.

Solution: carry a main knife and a secondary ‘dirty work’ knife. Pair your $300 ZT with a $50 Kershaw. Also good for those ‘dude, can I borrow your knife?’ moments, although I’m not a fan of lending my knives to non-knife people.

Double the blades, double the fun.

Oy! Keep your hands out of my pockets! That's pretty much what I do. Although my "nicer" carry blade isn't there just for jewelry. I'll still use everything I carry. I just don't sharpen rocks with it.

sell everything, just keep a few basic but good quality mid level production folders like a spyderco endura or a kershaw blur that you can use and easily replace and call it a day, i finally got over obsessing about different knives and buying knives just to leave at home and never use.

Amen to that. To each his own. It’s perfectly normal to not use your fancy CRKs or Hinderers for batoning or prying.

Usually I roll with a Recon 1 and an ESEE Izula. Perfectly happy with that combination most days of the week during life before the quarantine.

Seems to be a helluva lot of never been out the the box looking knives being sold in the exchange every minute - soooo I can't be the only one that keeps knives that don't get used. Some folks are full of wind.

At least mine travel to some interesting spots, lol.
