My 9 year old granddaughter holding her 83 pattern Yellow Rose with satin clip blade and me holding mine. I believe this to be a "Notable pair" being it represents half of the total production of 4 knives.

Here’s a pair of beauts. Last version Schrade made Buck 301 and the first version Camillus made Buck 301. Two very different design ideas.
The Schrade such a timeless serpentine stockman pattern and the Camillus more straight and blocky “ Texas” style. View attachment 1373291

The character of the scales and the "melt in your hand" feel of this knife just drew me in. The main blade isn't too shabby either.

I absolutely agree! As I posted in another thread ( Buck forum I think) the only reason I carry the Camillus over the Schrade is that the Schrade, both 301 and 303, have strong pulls and sharp nicks on the secondary’s and the just shred my thumb nail.

Snapped a pic of these two for another thread and realized that, as stainless two-bladed BladeForums Jacks, they actually form a nice little pair.

Here’s a pair of 2nd version Schrade made 301 soaking in mineral oil for a day or so before flushing the factory oil out of the joints. I pulled both of these from their boxes this week. One I just received and one was the only knife I own that was “ in the safe”. Was a gift from my wife many years ago, and was the only 301 I owned for a decade. She bought it thinking it was a 303 as that’s all I collected at the time. It always makes me smile when I see it. View attachment 1376431
