After the 40+ hour outage from 3-13 through 3-15, I've had enough. I expressed my unhappiness in no uncertain terms this evening to the managed hosting provider.

In the near future, we'll probably be moving BladeForums.com to a new hosting solution.

I cannot say with any certainty how long this move will take. At this point, however, I can say that something is definitely going to happen. You guys deserve a lot better than this, and I certainly pay entirely too much for the (lack of) service we've been getting.

I'll answer what questions I can, however right now I'm going to be light on details.

I think we tend to forget that what frustrates us when it goes down, also frustrates you.

Irregardless of the down time, it will be worth it in the end. Besides, you know none of us are going anywhere :D
It will be just like the last outage. Trying to log in every half hour until there is finally success

I thought Bladeforums was hosted on the pure titanium scale of a Sebenza...

(thanks for letting us know and doing what you can to keep our community up)

Thanks for letting us know, and thanks for all the work you do to keep BFC up and running.

Will you be retaining the accounts etc, or is that unknown at this point?

If its down for awhile, it will be curious to see if people jump to another site. Also to see how many people curb the knife buying in the meantime, or if it will cause rampant withdrawls and shopping.

Good luck - another forum I frequent recently switched carriers and one forum was down for about 4 days on one of their sites -- their other 2 sites migrated without a hiccup - took about 3 hours.

All the accounts and post counts and paid memberships would remain the same. It'd be a transparent change over as far as you guys are concerned.

On the upside, we'd possibly be able to bring back search for non-paying members after the move, but no promises.

That's good news!
might cut down on some of the "clone threads"!

Oh, I wouldn't bet money on that. If people are too lazy to do a Google search, they'll probably be too lazy to do a search here too.

Spark, thank you for letting us know!!! I really appreciate all that you do for us.

Thank you, Kevin. We appreciate your efforts.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but during the last outage I discovered just how addicted I am to this site. I had known I spent a lot of time here. Just hadn't realize how much.

I applaud your decision. It's costing YOU money, and paying members are getting less value. (Each time I click and have to wait for some bogus server glitch I've lost value.)

You know this. Searching elsewhere is simply good business.

Thank you!

Will the format be the same along with the colors? They are easy on my eyes compared to other forums I have seen. Not familiar with how things work on a transfer so thanks for your time and great forum experience

The only difference will be that our site is on a different server. You wouldn't see any changes.
