Headed back down south Saturday morning. We left at 9a.m., the idea being it would give us enough time to get down there, get supplies, unload, and head to the firewood gettin' place at 1:30. Turns out, if you haven't been keeping up on the snark thread, my truck dropped a cylinder, and luckily was still able to make it to the shop. Four and a half hours and $595 later, we were back on the road, and finally made it down there. Later than expected, but hey, we made it.
Bastard:

Very little color to be seen:

Nice fire and a BK9 makes all your troubles disappear:

With the time change, it didn't take long for the sun to settle:

A fire, BK9, and Maker's Mark makes all your troubles disappear too:

And snacks:

Sunday morning was a bit brisk, at 26°:

Too cold for propane, so I broke out the gas Coleman. Seemed to not be working right, as I had the trim on for some time, and couldn't get the coveted blue flame. Turned the pot black instantly:

Then, of course, the flame turned blue. Guess I just didn't wait long enough:

Morning fire, the standard:

Started chopping up some free wood with the niner:

Switched to the Mini Duku:

Then the heavy duty kukri:

I would definitely choose the one in the middle:

Fun to chop with, but no BK9. The heavy duty kukri hits hard, as it's a 1/4" thick, but you have to hit the sweet spot. The mini duku works okay, but the very round handle twists in your hands easily. Thinking of taking a sander to it, and making the sides flatter:
