November's Challenge Discussion Thread

I'm having a bitch of a time getting flint and steel to work on anything not Charred. Charred cloth and Charred cat tail fluff works great though.

If you have milkweed, you can use the ovum out of the pod. I have done it several times. My buddy Skab did a video on it.

You know I'm not sure about the milkweed but I'm gonna try to strike the steel on the rock holding the tinder on the rock as oppossed to striking the rock on the steel and trying to rain down sparks. I think the spark will be hotter that way.

I wasnt going to post the pics of my fails by the time I got one to go I didnt even take pics but I will see what I got.
 
Here was one attempt I used a dry piece of pine not fatwood, made a good pile of shavings and scrapings on top of that couldnt get it to work.
